VERY basic questions about building an amp...

This summer I'd be greatly interested in building my own amp. I'm thinking about a 5W all tube combo with just volume and tone knobs basically. Something easy that should be fun to accomplish without turning into a nightmare. Does anyone make a kit that would satisfy me? If not, what good websites would help me get the materials and how much would it most likely cost me? I'm not looking for perfect answers and yes I know these questions are VERY vague, but I'm guessing I could shell out about 200 dollars on this, would it be enough? Thanks guys... Ask if you need more details but I'm not sure I'd even know what else I'd want ;)

W00t thanks guys! I'm thinking of either going for the A15MK1 deluxe or the G2, depending on budget of course. I'll need an amp for Amsterdam so a little 2 watter is also very tempting. Thanks a lot HT! And thanks too Lew, I'll look at the website.

Re: VERY basic questions about building an amp...

sounds like a good plan there. I would like to build one also, just that need the resources

Re: VERY basic questions about building an amp...

Well if you get a kit like this, it seems you only need a soldering iron! Perfect for me hahah... I'll probably try the A15MK1 deluxe as the G2 seems overly simple, I do a lot of soldering on the guitars. Would there be anyway of reducing the power of the Deluxe when building it? Basically maybe make it work with only one power tube?

I highly recommend Mission Amps kits. Support is excellent. Tone is superb.

You got your start doing the 5E3? You ever do one of their Scholars?

Re: VERY basic questions about building an amp...

They're too expensive and from the US. I'd rather try those Madamp, they seem cheap enough, and I won't be taxed for them :D Thanks though Scott, I'll try them one day maybe.

Re: VERY basic questions about building an amp...

No Scholar for me, but I'm familiar enough with Bruce to know that it would be a first class kit.

Re: VERY basic questions about building an amp...

Mhmm I had a look inside the A15MK1... Do you guys think it'd be easy enough? Well I'm NOT looking for easyness, just for fun and a decent amp, and I really dug the soundclips.
