Very happy with the Broadcaster for tele!

I have just replaced a hot for tele tapped in my alder/maple signature tele with a broadcaster and it sounds awesome originally the bridge position needed a bit more livening up it was quite dark sounding, now it sounds very raw and bright enough with lots of twang and sounds great with overdrive aswell as cleans in the middle position, it has all the bite i need compared to the hot for tele tapped, it cuts through more has enough mids and its vintage quality is fantastic. I didnt know what i was missing out on.

Thanks guys for your help.

Sounds like you have a winner! Good stuff.

Re: Very happy with the Broadcaster for tele!

It does seem like everyone who really knows Tele tone keeps coming back to the Broadcaster as 'the one.' I'm more of a strat (A5) guy, so I've been trying to decide what to use in my Tele. I may take the recommendation of the Broadcaster/5-2. Any thoughts on the Jerry Donahue bridge?

Re: Very happy with the Broadcaster for tele!

for my next Tele I have been looking hard at the Broadcaster. My current tele has a CS set in it but the broadcaster is a killer pickup.

i like the Antiquity II tele bridge i have now, and i will be testing Artietoo's JD in a couple of days.

Dimarzio Twang King neck pickup is an excellent, and very underrated, tele pickup

thank you,
those songs are a few years old. I'm much WORSE now.. overplayin and all--

Too many GREAT Tele pups... not enough Teles to put em in.

I got 9 teles
all different.
I would like at least 2 more to use as pup donkeys:beerchug:

Re: Very happy with the Broadcaster for tele!

I love my Broadcaster too! I tried a JD but didn't think that it had the spank and mojo of the BC. Not that the JD was bad, just the opposite...it's a great pup just a bit too warm for what I was looking for.

Dills' description makes it sound great...I have an Antiquity I in a Tele and I wish it was a bit rawer. It's a '62 RI so maybe I should put a 60s type PU in it.

depending on the wood, I'd pick between the Antiquity, Broadcaster, and JD

Hmm, I seem to be the only person disappointed with the Broadcaster. I thought it had great tone on the lower strings, but I was less impressed by the highs, which seemed a bit dry to me. It just didn't seem to chime like I thought it would. Maybe I just didn't set it up right ?

Howdy,

the SD Broadcaster has always intrigued me. I'd be interested in giving one a"test-drive" someday.
