VH (Feel your love Tonight) "sound clip" playing along with CD

I decided for the hell of it to see how my amp would sound playing along with a Van Halen 1 song, the exact same thing I did with the Mean Street clip last year, so i loaded just the right track of the song into my Cakewalk program and panned it up the middle so it would be in both speakers but without Eddie's guitar. On that album Eds guitar is in the left speaker and the right is just the effect return. I played along with it and panned my guitar to the left side. Because i used the effect return side of the album and panned it up the middle, the clip is flooded with Eds effect on both the right and left channels instead of just the right but you can still get an idea of what the amp sounds like with the song. Also there's so many variations of how I could place the mic on my cab to change the tone around but I was just too lazy to mess with it so I just recorded it the way it was. Let me know what you think.

Feel your love tonight

Great job as always there. A question if I may. Is the guitar you're using equipt with a Floyd Rose? The reason I'm asking is because I'm thinking about putting some low powered humbuckers in my Wolfgang Special, but I'm not sure which pickups would be best suited for my guitar. I'm thinking maybe a 59 or the Blues Saraceno model. I recentley discoverd how cool a low output bucker is when I put a Dimarzio Virtual PAF in my Strat. I currentley have an Air Zone in the bridge position and an Air Classic in the neck position. Don't get me wrong, they sound great and the're very balanced but at times the sound seems a bit too "big" if that makes any sense. I'd like to find something thats in the middle of the V-PAF and the Air Zone. Any suggestions? Again, great job there bud!!

Ah it sounds big and open in my old Kramer...the org JB was dead and I made a hybrid out of it, using one Screamin' Demon coil and the remaining JB coil, but due to the Kramers rather fat sound I decided to stick in the 59 I used in my Wolfgang...wow.
:D
Will get some clips done later;)

Thanks Mike! To be honest with you i've never played through a V-PAF or an Air Zone so it's hard for me to say what would fall in between those two. If your gonna get another PAF i would recommend a Duncan 59, a Duncan custom shop EVH, or a Voodoo 59. All great pickups that have a very similiar sound to each other.

RG2570 just click on his clips...there is some org work there....trust me he has his own sound in plenty:D

yeah he is a good player but i guess i am one of those that will not do anothers style or tone even for fun .
I am not trashin him,but i think the VH tone has been done to death! time to get a new tone that is even better! :32:

Re: VH (Feel your love Tonight) "sound clip" playing along with CD

Better...hehe happy hunting;)
Basicly the real fun in VHoholics thing is that he uses a Kramer Striker with one 59 Duncan humbucker, running through an RI Marshall 1959SLP and uses greenbacks....and because if his quite awesome skills he makes all this sounds amazingly great.
To sum it up in Zappas words....shut and play your guitar:D
I love his clips because he really can play.....and I am far from tired of Van Halen..hehe
Like I am not tired of Hendrix, Beck, Gilmoure etc etc.

Hey, to each his own. Whatever makes you happy bro. Why are you so interested in my tone in the first place? I do this to have a little fun, kinda like a hobby, pass the time. I enjoy doing it and i know alot of people enjoy hearing these clips along with everyone elses. I personally think Ed's tone, no matter how old it is, holds up extremely well against what is out today. I mean look, after 20 years people are STILL searching for it, i think that says alot. If you want his tone times 2 or 3 or any other tone you like, then go for it! I'm not stopping you. That would be awesome. Like i said, whatever makes you happy. When you do, post clips of it so we can all hear it. :D

Re: VH (Feel your love Tonight) "sound clip" playing along with CD

:burnout: You are quite welcome man.
I think your clips are great and fun.
Van Halen was one of my reasons to even play the guitar, plus I have always loved the sound of big old Marshalls :saeek:

Re: VH (Feel your love Tonight) "sound clip" playing along with CD

If I may. Yes, VHoholic does have the Van Halen thing down to the tee. And as cool as that is what I find most impressive are his chops. That guy can definatley play, no question about it. And as many great players as there are on this forum I personally am most impressed with VHoholic's skill's. Wish I had half of his chops!

Re: VH (Feel your love Tonight) "sound clip" playing along with CD

Killer! I love your sound. You really make it work here. You have some strict attention to detail :7:
