VHT Pitbull 45??

Re: VHT Pitbull 45??

Good amps for sure. The other HP in my old band had one hot a while. It was cool it had snake skin tolex. It sounded really goog

Re: VHT Pitbull 45??

If they're Fryette VHT's, grab 'em. Make sure that you verify the fact... if you get stuck with AXL's, you're effed.

Re: VHT Pitbull 45??

Had one, it was the best amp I've ever owned and kick myself in the nuts daily for selling it....

Re: VHT Pitbull 45??

Very cool amps. If memory serves they run EL84s, so they're more on the rock side of things. Cleans and dirt sound good, takes pedals well, etc.

Re: VHT Pitbull 45??

I've always kinda wanted one of those! Always heard good things about them!

Is he going to trade you both of them?

Re: VHT Pitbull 45??

Both heads and both cabs for a Dual Rec? Whoa.
Yeah.....Holy Cow.!!
1. Is the Mesa REALLY worth that much.?
2, Are the VHT (head and cabx2) really worth THAT little.?

I would think SCREW the Mesa.
He has TWO amps and cabs. Sell off one set, and play the remaining Pit bull.
Change the speakers of you cannot sound good through that set up.
Good Grief
best

Re: VHT Pitbull 45??

I saw those on Craigslist and thought the price was amazing. You could get a VHT/Fryette halfstack for $750! After some research, the Pitbull 45 is not what most people associate with VHT. It is more mid-gain, rock-based rather than the tight, sterile VHT tone that they are known for. Truthfully, I really like EL84s and would be curious to hear how they work in a VHT amp as their sound is so closely tied to KT88s, in my opinion. Give us a review of the amp if you make the trade.

Re: VHT Pitbull 45??

Talked to the guy and he wants to trade just ONE of the stacks for my Dual Rec. Which seems about right. Just not sure if thats enough power for me.

Re: VHT Pitbull 45??

Not sure of the difference between the 45 and my Fifty/CL, but I am madly in love with mine. VHT/Fryette are just amazing amps. I don't think you would regret it.

If I recall correctly, that amp got reviewed in some amp shootout in a guitar mag a long time ago and was hailed for its versatility.

No personal experience here (unfortunately), but I always heard they packed quite a punch for their size!?!

Re: VHT Pitbull 45??

That amp is loud as hell, I played it across from my old co-guitarist who used a tri rec and I had no problem being heard....That amp can do metal too, lots of folks say it can't but they are full of ****.....

I doubt it... VHT doesn't make the Pitbull since the name was bought by AXL. Other than amp cabinets and logo, the circuits are completely different... The VHT Standard series are worth a serious look. If only I could find one to prove it!

Re: VHT Pitbull 45??

I've had mine for about 8 years and it's my main gig amp: Pitbull 45, 2 x 10, 4 EL84s. Great versatile club amp. It's not a high gain amp like the 100 watt heads. It's got a phenomenal clean channel, great reverb, and the gain channel is sorta hot-rodded plexi, IMO. Put a 4 x 12 under it and it'll get pretty loud. Switchable between class A (30 watts) and class AB (45 watts). Built like a tank.

I don't there will be any confusion. Axl only has the VHT name. They do not make Pitbulls, Sig-X's, Deliverances etc.

Picked up one of the stacks..AMAZING

They sound HUGE for only 45 watts, I ran them both in stereo and was blown away. We did a straight up swap one stack for my dual rec head , and will be buying the other stack for VERY little cash later this week.

Re: VHT Pitbull 45??

Sweet deal man. I would have done that deal too in a minute.
Dual Rec's are everywhere, you can always find them. Getting someone to part with their VHT is another story though. Nicely done.
