My UK setup is now complete! - only took me 2 years...
1980 Ibanez Blazer, which I found out through this forum, and a brand new VHT Special 6 (not the Ultra). Came all the way from Germany to the UK in 2 days. Well done DHL.

Do you guys have any links for mods or tube swaps?

I'll post pics soon - I know you love eye candy.

Shouldn't you try the amp as-is and get to know what you like/don't like about it before thinking about swaps and mods?

Yeah, of course. It 'll be a while til I actually mod it or even change its tubes. I like to read up on these things though...

HNAD, congrats!

I own a VHT Special 6 Ultra and the easiest mods is to swap the cheap Chinese stock tubes. I can attest to this because I have.

TDPRI has the longest thread on this subject, it's not hard to find and popular.

Hermeticoguitar on Youtube has divided his review and mods in different posts but you'll learn a lot from them.

Hope this helps.

I found both of those. Thank you very much sir! The amp has been sitting in my room for a few hours now. I had a report deadline, so I was working on that. Now it's 2:30am... I still haven't played through it. It's killing me.

First impressions:
Keeps clean for (much) longer than I expected. I only have single coils to put through it right now, so I keep that in mind. I have to play a nice hot humbucker through it and see what happens. I think it needs a tube screemer in front, at least for single coils.
Clean on this thing is sweet.
About as loud as I expected.
It's a dynamic, volume-only, tube amp! There's that little sweet spot between clean and break-up...

All in all, I'm very happy with it. I think the next step is to put an OD pedal in front of it... Maybe get a set of nice tubes tubes for it, possibly a bit hotter.
