Video:Authentic Satch vid!

nuntius

Boogeyman of Tone
I even went to the trouble of wearing a hat! \m/

Excuse all the popping noises on the video, maybe it's because I was playing loud I dunno, it's never done it before.

Anyway, here's a cover of Satriani's Love Thing, one of my favourite tracks from Crystal Planet.

All was going well until my mind went blank and I forgot the phrasing of the quick run at the end of the solo section, and then I thought I might as well carry on and ad lib.. but then my string snapped :smack:

Anyway I thought I'd stick it up for a laugh. I'm thinking about asking to see if I could play it at this years final assembly before we break up for summer.

Re: Video:Authentic Satch vid!

hey nuni what amp do you use on your clips, and in general? Your tone is pretty damn nice.

Re: Video:Authentic Satch vid!

Line 6 Guitar Port for all PC recordings (all the stuff in my sig basically)

Line 6 Flextone II XL is used in any vids I've put up, and it's what I use to gig with as well.

Yeah, I really like the Soldano patches on both the Port and the Flex, the majority of my drive tones (includign this vid) use one.

Cheers for checking out the vid :)

Re: Video:Authentic Satch vid!

oh and I forgot, very nice playing. I always enjoy your clips and such. I just picked up a satch sheet music book the other day, I'm going to learn this tune and a couple of others. I use a guitarport too, works great! Can you send me some of the patches you use sometime? I'd like to check those out.

I picked up a new line6 hd147 at GC today for $399 at their memorial day sale. Pretty cool amp, but I bought it just to turn a profit on it on ebay.

Re: Video:Authentic Satch vid!

Nuntius!!! Awesome tone and playing as usual, I bet you're going to be the third member on a G3 someday, and I'll be front-row in the audience! ;) Wish I had your insane skills on guitar and music in general.

How you likin' that Flex? I've played some of the newer ones, but didn't know what I was doing and only played with the factory presets, which were NOT impressive at all. I liked your tone on this video though, so maybe I'll give them another try.

Re: Video:Authentic Satch vid!

If I'm honest, I prefer my Flextone II to the III's I've played... There was just something about the Marshall and Soldano patches (pretty much the only ones I use :D) I didn't agree with.. I couldn't get them to sound right. I'm probably just used to my II though.

Line 6's factory presets suck, they're crap on the guitar port too... :laugh2:

Xero, if I'm honest, every time I record I tweak and very rarely save :smack:

Here's a few though -

Most of the time I use the Soldano setting, the Line 6 2x12, that 1x10, V30 4x12 cab or the green 25s cab... I use the tube screamer sim quite a bit too. Usually I'll add delay or reverb (or a bit of both) to one of those patches, tweak the EQ + gain to the guitar I'm using and hit record.. :laugh2:

What's that HD147 like? Worth a look? The only thing that bugs me about my II is when I get it past 5/6 on a heavy tone, it loses a bit of focus. Other than that I don't think my tones all that bad. Usually I've gotten away with running it at 4 1/2 - 5 at gigs because I've always had a PA, but if one day there isn't, I'd be pretty screwed :E

Very, very cool man! Great playing, and like Xeromus said, killer tone! I love the hat :laugh2: Facial movements do Satch justice, as well.

Re: Video:Authentic Satch vid!

That´s sooooooooo cool :)

You nailed the satch tone and the feeling of the song which is hard to get for me.

I agree with DSS3 and all the others :)
