Re: VIDEO: Me on GUITAH!

ANd Twilightodyssey, you didnt answer my question. Was i wrong about his mistakes?

Re: VIDEO: Me on GUITAH!

Ithink, i need to explain. Twilight, when i say read careful, think twice - it doesnt mean "count how many post i have" and give overall percentage. You indeed make me laugh.
:) :) :) :)

Re: VIDEO: Me on GUITAH!

Mr. D I'll tell you what the problem with your initial post was most of it you were just taking the piss out of how he was playing. What's wrong with picking hard?!? I can't see that there's any real problem with his picking either. You also seemed to be talking like he shouldn't post videos until he can play perfectly. This is all what I could understand from your posts anyway cos some of them just make no sense. You could at least try and spell properly even if you're not brilliant at english

Re: VIDEO: Me on GUITAH!

your first post was harsh and not helpful Mr D. and whats this with bringing up the point that he's not gonna get better, and just grow old and use that as an excuse?.....seriously, thats the lamest thing i've heard, why do you even bring a weird point up like that?

Re: VIDEO: Me on GUITAH!

As a seymour duncan forum drama historian, my predition is that this thread wouldn't make to the "SD forum drama" hall of fame. Not spicy enough. :fing25:

After seeing all these dramas for the last 5-6 years, my philasophy is "less drama, better forum". Can I get "amen"?

Xerxes - maybe youre right, but in that case i think you should be more abstract, i dont think that MArk Twain was talking about "writing" as communication (as i did, cos i try to communicate with u people), he was talking possibly - "writing" as the way of art (maybe writing books, articles, news papers). Dont you think that he was against those children and people, who learned english. Somehow they should learn it, one way is writing to commuinicate with teacher for ex. And what you say is sort of discrimination to those people. So xerxes BE more abstract. And think twice befor you say something. Mark Twain words - should adressed to you, not me.

i wish i understood what u wrote

and mark twain didnt actually say it, i didn (sounded good though, hehe)
im done discussing this topic, by the way, not worth it

Re: VIDEO: Me on GUITAH!

sorry dude, video is too big for me to download

it'd be downloading for like 2 days, and then my power would get shut off or something

but i can take a guess that it's really good, basing it off what i've heard you play ;)

btw, im messing around with some stuff, maybe another forum jam?

Re: VIDEO: Me on GUITAH!

Apb4.
He picks hard( i wasnt talking only about hard picking) it is good, but i sounded as though as it is a Prelude for the fast run, but instead of it he stopped playeing hard and conyinued with legato + he stressed the fisrt notes and other notes sounded quiet, so it sounded not connected.
As i said it was my imHo. His left hand is good for me, but right hand.....
right hand should control, it gives dynamic( he stressed notes, other sounded quieter), it gives speed, it gives passion, expression,
rhythm. Left hand does less job, actually, it only presses the string. Thats why i made such conclusion to meself.
Yeah i said something abou video, maybe a litle rude though. Posting videos is for self gratifying, to show yourself to other. To be judged. If i critisizred such act(posting a video), i was wrong(but i didnt critisize, i was talking about fast playing. See, as i said read carefully, before judging).
Flank, yes i was rude. But my words critisized his tehnique, not him. It is a big different to critisize act or critisize person. And it can help, i pointed on mistakes...again was i wrong....I told him what he must improve Imho...
About age excuse - some said wow youre only 17(or something like that), so what 17. I posted a video with boy 9 years old. What abot J Becker, who recorded perpetual burn at the age 16... This opinion "he is only" is not excuse anymore, it could be 20 years ago, but not in nowadays. And if he continues doing those mistakes, he wont improve. And when he will be 24 or maybe older, no one will say "he is only". Dont use such words like "he is only" if you see mistakes, dont lie to him. It is never to early to fix the problem, but it can be late someday. We talked about it with Davey in previous post.

Re: VIDEO: Me on GUITAH!

Mr D.

you obviously do not know your place here. you are a newcomer.and it is not wise to start callin people names left and right the moment you come through the door.you'll only fly out faster than you were coming in. with that kind of behaviour, you wont last 5 days. now start behaving or leave.

noone needs to impress you. if anything, you should be impressing US. you come in and start 'educating' us and you expect us to just fall down on our knees and scream 'oh, you have SHOWN us the LIGHT! how could we have not seen it before!!! my gawd thank YOU'

if anybody should think before they post it should be you. now think a good while before you reply to this cos i dont tolerate ****heads.

i dont see anything wrong with his playing. it looks like he's on a good way to be a truly kickass guitarist. if you see talent dont stomp it down with a constant practice practice practice drill. music is all about FUN and it looks like he's enjoying it. i dont care if that kid is 9 or if becker recorded his 1st album then he was still in the womb. it's not them here, it's biu.

constructive criticism is ok, but what you're doing now is just plain stupid

Re: VIDEO: Me on GUITAH!

Davey, they have names and i adress them. And im not new comer, i just post rarely. But if someone asks me i answer. You exaggerate too much. Im not trying to educate, but im trying to explain myself.

Constructive criticism - might i ask you what does it mean to you?

The problem of you and some other is - 1. That some doesnt read carefuilly (thats true, once you admitted that).
2. Some argues with the context of what i wrote.
3. Some critisizes my personality not my words. It is offence. Like - "you dont know", "you have no idea", "you have no point" , "smart ass", "you wrong" and etc. Is that the constructive critisizm?
4. Someone should be constructive, not me. I said he stress some notes i even showed the time of record, ANswer me - im wrong.
5. I was talking abstratcly.(read my previous posts).

And after thst you telling me something? How am i sup[pose to react?
And you tell me that i Try to educate someone? And everrybodys so polite and constructive?
And you tell me abou what you toleratte? Now YOU tell me again about constructive critisizm. Point me: where i made a mistake?

Did i say that he is a bad guitarist... I said he is good, but he can improve his technique. Can you say he played absolutely without mistakes?
And as i said, only my first post is adressed to him.

Xerxes, Mark Twain was in your post. Dumbass you impress me.

Mr.D said:
i pointed on some mistakes. If you cant, shut up, and as i said before stop licking his but.

Mr.D said:
No one gave you the right to become his defender(in that case butt licker). Be objective, if u cant prove that i am wrong shut up.

how's that for some?

just to say... nobody but YOU care about the goddamn mistakes. everybody makes them. i do, biu does, becker does, vai does.. satch's hats are a mistake. and i take it that you're a human being, you do them too.

also, if you post rarely, noone remembers you, thus you are a newcomer with every new post, where others are known, respected and taken as friends around here.

lets go back, shall we?
Too postivie
what.. the.. FUCK??? too positive?
but i think your alternate picking sucks
mhm... and you learned it in a day.. really good criticism right here
Nice try, but you cant perform it well
wow... getting totaly down on the guy for even trying to play something
and then the mention of a 9 year old outplaying everybody... GREAT post dude!!!! i'm speechless. so now everybody that couldnt play like that at 9yo sucks?
show us some of your playing.. ok, you apologised, but still.. great way to start off.

and it seems YOU are the one who doesnt know what constructive criticism means.

btw, yes. i will tell you and everybody else what i tolerate, like, dont like care or dont care. i dont make corners around what i want to say. if you dont like it, you can leave. noone is forcing you to be here.

Re: VIDEO: Me on GUITAH!

Davey, I have a Gibson '57 Classic pup in the neck of my Explorer and a DeArmond Goldtone pup in the bridge. They are actually really sweet pups, I think. I could definitely see a Seth or A2P pup replacing the neck position someday, but I'm pretty satisfied with the setup right now. Something about an Alnico 2 magnet in the neck just makes me go like this! ----> :32: It's so rich, dynamic, and musical! I don't think I've ever tried A2 in the bridge position, though...maybe I should spring for a Seth/Pearly Gates configuration or something in the near future when I have $$$?

Awww, moom, that sucks. Maybe I'll show it to you some other time? Hmmm, forum jam, eh? I don't think I've ever participated in one except for a little collab with ZeppelinFan a long time ago. Sounds fun though, we'll see.

Thanks to everybody for checking out my first video ever! I am truly honored!!!

yea, plz do that =) PG would suit your playing a bit better than an A2pro. your playing has got more 'spark' if i can put it like that..

and np bout checkin out the vid.. long time since i saw something posted by you... and i'm tired of seing nuni whoop my ass =/ good to see new faces moping up with my sorry ass.. i really need to think of something to practice more

Re: VIDEO: Me on GUITAH!

I agree with Mr. D! Biu, you're an awesome guitarist and the stuff on your soundclick rocks. However that video you posted shows you playing sub par than what i've heard you done before. With that being said, i hate the biased positive comments given to really bad guitar playing on this board sometimes. You're not helping them, you're just encouraging them it's alright to play sloppy, with no creative, no taste, no feel (having a crap ass vibrato and bending alot does not = taste) or technique. I think if someone really wants to excel, everything they do must be judged critically. With that being said i think TOO MANY guitar players on this forum just plain suck and shouldn't post clips (unless they're asking for help or critique) but this is my opinion however and this is a open and forum so.... until then i just stick to the elitist jazz forums who WILL critque every aspect of my playing, cause it makes me into a better player.

Re: VIDEO: Me on GUITAH!

you guys do have to realise that there is a diference in a song/recording which has a lot of thought involved, has more takes and is rehersed prior to recording, vs. a quick thrown together practice and playing on the spot whatever pops into your head.

you do whatever's best for you and what you want to. unless i'm asked for specific opinion on someones stuff or i know the dude, or is a maiden song, i stay out of it.

if we all were just so strict and machine like on everybody's playing here, noone would post cos they wouldnt want to be taken apart note by note. constructive criticism is one thing,to tell someone what they should improve. picking on their technique, telling them they suck is another. and it's not wanted around here.
