Hey dudes, so once again i have a video for you guys.
This time im doing "Icarus Lives!" by my band Periphery.

In the video i am using my EBMM Petrucci 7 string (tuned to drop Ab) into my Engl Invader 100 and Orange 4x12. I was once again too lazy to set up the rack and pedalboard so this is just the raw amp sound on Channel 3 (hi-gain on/bright on/noise gate on) with no pedals or effects.

Cool stuff! -I'm not much of a modern metal fan, but you played that really well, the composition was very good, and your lead lines were very interesting. Tapping lick aside, it was cool to hear a metal solo that didn't sound like a bunch of licks I've heard a mllion times before reassembled together. Well done!

MAN try some different tubes. You sound great now but you could sound even better. What volume are you recording at? Whilst cranked at 80 to 90 percent my ENGL sounded harsh with the stock power tubes. With JJ 6L6s the amp is much more musical and smooth. The difference was very noticeable. And this is through crappy line 6 celestions! Only more room to go up my man

yeah true, but to be honest i love the way it sounds currently, so if it aint broke dont fix it, i have also never had a need to turn it up past 4 in a live setting haha.

If so, then how do they compare to ENGL's?

yeah i my old singer had an xtc and i have spent some good time with an uber and i own a vht clx

engls sound like a finished product to be honest, they are ultra tight and precise, extremely clean and smooth sound. the invader would be their most "raw" sounding amp, but its just as tight as the other ones.

the vht is very raw sounding, not as djenty as the engls (nothing is as djenty as an engl to be quite honest) its not saturated at all and so its very tight and precise and has a nicely voiced midrange and clean.

and the bogner xtc is similar in voicing to the vht, but i would say both amps sound very different from the invader

overall, i really think the invader is the perfect amp for me. when i had a powerball i said that the vht would be the perfect amp if i played rock or lower gained styles of music that needed more midrange detail and cut, but the invader is amazing at that as well, so i could use it for any style to be quite honest. the only thing it cant do is a dirty loose saggy kind of tone, because its just not in its character, but i personally like tight and precise sounds!
