Vintage bridge pups

I'm starting to get sick of high output pups that are extremely dark from being overwound. I want a nice bright paf output bridge pickup to go in an all mahogony guitar with a maple top. I also want some nice punchy mids for leads, aswell as a tight low end. Lots of clarity too. I also prefer the dynamics of an Alnico 2 mag.

Ive been searching and came up with these three:
APH-1b - not enough high end?
SH-1 59B - no mids, too bright and bassy?
Pearly Gates - higher output that leads to too much bass and muddiness?

if you guys could give me opinions on these pickups aswell as recommendations for other i'd greatly appreciate it.

The Pearly Gates is not known for its bassiness. Kind of top heavy actually. This might be your pickup...

thanks, how good is it with mids? very thick mids?

wow, the price of the PG is a little bit over my budget.

now its down to the 59 and AP2, darn

If you want thick mids with a hint of vintage I would go with the Custom Custom. An outstanding pickup. High output, alnico 2. Honestly, it doesn't sound as "high output" as you would think. It's mids are incredibly warm and buttery. The best "all-around" distortion sound, IMO. I like the 59 with an alnico 2 for clean guitar, but the CC shines with almost any amount of distortion. Although, it is more difficult to get that break-up point, then say a 59.

not sure exactly... you should check them out though. for a vintage replacement pup they are to beat. more "rock" tone than the fralins

I recommend the Custom Custom. It doesn't behave like a hot pickup at all. It has plenty of low end without getting muddy, smooth highs, great mids. It really cuts through.
