Re: Vintage double-cream JB on the bay

You can always order a Zebra and Reverse Zebra and pull them apart and match the coils.

Got it. So I need to order a Zebra/Reverse Zebra Custom Hybrid. Something like, I'll have Eggs, Spam, Spam and Spam, without the Spam.

Kinda, you'd just have to scrape the spam off the plate yourself, they can't sell it the way you want it. ;)

At the end, you'd end up with a double cream pickup, and a black one that you can sell. It's only a few minutes worth of work, and worth it if you have to have a cream Duncan.

Re: Vintage double-cream JB on the bay

Larry DiMassengil is very very worried that we the consumer may unknowingly buy a JB because we thought it was a Superdistortion since it looks so much like an old Gibson PAF.

Re: Vintage double-cream JB on the bay

Why double cream pups are not sold anymore?

The DiMarzio company owns a trademark on humbucker pickups with exposed double-cream coils. It's a controversial subject here and, using the Search Function, you can find lots of old threads beating the subject to death.

Re: Vintage double-cream JB on the bay

I kinda regret selling all the ones I had over the years. All I have left are the C5 and PG in my Les Paul that are going NOWHERE and a C5 trembucker about to go into a new build. I also had a glow in the dark JB trembucker I should have kept just because it was an oddball, just never knew what do do with it since no one made glow in the dark rings.

Re: Vintage double-cream JB on the bay

I think it was nice that Seymour Duncan made an actual Super Distortion in Double Cream™, or "cream creme".
