Vintage Double-Creme JB?

I just pulled what appears to be a double-creme JB out of an '85 Hamer USA Scarab I purchased recently. In addition to the two creme bobbins, it has a sticker on the back that reads, "The JB Model." Could this be legit? I wasn't aware Seymour Duncan ever did double-creme pickups, due to the legal situation with Dimarzio.

It's legit. I have a double cream Duncan Custom that's from the 80's. :cool2:

Yeah, its probably legit. I also have spotted dbl cream Distortions and 59s from that period in end of 70ies and beginning 80ies. They stopped making them in mid 80ies.

I've also got a double-cream '59, so yeah, they made them for a while.

However, the "The JB Model" sticker seems a bit odd to me - did they really put all that on the stickers rather than just "JBx" - the model and builder's initial?

I thought it was odd, too, but I seem to recall that they used that labeling format at one time. At any rate, here's a shot showing the sticker.

It could be that this was a first run of the JB. Why don't you email SD to make sure you have a legit JB.

I'm almost positive it's legit, but a quick e-mail to MJ with the pic will confirm.

Yeah, MJ and the SD crew usually email you within 24 hours so it couldn't hurt to ask. BTW, you really teased us with that pic of the baseplate sticker. We want to see a pic of the actually dbl cream JB. :naughty:

Now that is good old fashioned double cream sweetness. I never tire of double creams. When I have uncovered pickups, they are always double cream. Just lovely.
