Vintage Duncan or Not?

Mr 9finger

Digitally Challenged
Hey Guys. I got a bit of strange pickup today? Curious if someone here can help me out.

It's a double black bobbin, standard spaced. 1 row of slugs other side screws. It has the same color scheme for wiring as a Duncan. The base plate is chromish like a Duncan, but there is no Duncan Stamp, and it has DDJ sticker on the bottom. You can tell by looking at it, that it's rather old.

Extremely old Duncan? Yay? Nay?

I'll try and post some pics shortly.

That's what I was thinking. The plate not having the Duncan Stamp is what's throwing me.

Re: Vintage Duncan or Not?

I have an old "The MAG" SH-3 humbucker which has also a baseplate without a stamp.
I got the chance to ask someone from during the "Frankfurt Musikmesse" and they told me that the pickups they started to produce had a blank baseplate.

Re: Vintage Duncan or Not?

Must be one of the first production ones or something?, if it is then that is a sweet score, just need a nicely reliced guitar for it to go in!

Re: Vintage Duncan or Not?

If you mean mine pickup, it has shorter legs, but the rest looks like duncan: the wires, the tape, the coils...
Maybe it's going in an explorer, the other choice would be the Jazz.
