I posted about a vintage 67' Gibson SG coming to my bench, the customer would like an appraisal before any work done, how do I find the actual value of his guitar?

Ask Sotheby’s or Juliens or look at closed auctions on eBay for the same.

Less than he thinks, but more than enough to send him onward because he sounds like somebody who'll claim invisible scratches and try to get YOU to pay him

If quite clean, it's worth about the same as a brand new SG with full bells and whistles (no longer called a standard though, that name is for plain stuff now), maybe just a bit more


Opportunists want up to 5 grand or more, some show up for 1.5ish, truth for a minty is somewhere in between but peaked in the past and now falling
