Vintage Guitar coulda done better..

Man did Vintage Guitar disappoint me this month. On the cover they say they are having a low watt amp shootout... which got me quite excited since thats what i am in the market for. But after reading the article I came away very dissapointed, not with the amps but withthe article. They had 10 or so high quality boutique amps to compare and contrast, and they didn't really compare the amps tonal qualities at all. They spent more time talking about the builders and the looks of the amps than talking about the amps tones. It almost seems like they are afraid to say anything bad because they don't want to piss anyone off. The article did point me in the way of the the Emery Sound and Torres amps so I guess I shouldnt be that mad. I just thought VG could have done alot more with what they had.

Vintage guitar's reviews are always way too tame IMHO.

I've never been impressed with any of the comparisons that I read in Vintage Guitar. The only real way to find a low wattage amp that you like is to go play a bunch of them. I can think of worse ways to occupy one's time!
