hey, i'm looking for an amp between $1 to $500 (canadian) that would help give my epiphone supernova a vintage (either a 60's or 70's) rock sound to it.
second hand Peavey classic 30, best money I ever spent. Great classic rock tone, and its cleans are great for post-grunge i discovered. The Dirty channel is the better part of the amp though, cleans aren't that clean, murky is the word, I like it.
Your in the land of old Traynors and Garnet's. I would jump on either one of those, if you are indeed in Canada, there are probably a few dusty ones sitting very cheap. Vintage Canadian amps have become my vintage amp if choice. I have 5 of them.
You shoudl be able to find a few different older Traynors as well as a few Garnets...both of which are very cool amps. If you want an old tone play through old gear!

It's getting harder and harder to find Garnets at reasonable prices - everyone knows about em. I've gotten a few of them over the years - I live in Winnipeg - but I got in on the tail end. A lot of people round here tell stories about being unable to pay people to take Garnets off their hands back in the day, now BTOs are going for $1100 US on ebay.
But yes, I agree, you can't go wrong. My favourite amp is my Pro head, a 50w version of the BTO. Meanest, heaviest sounding amp I've ever used. I've also got an oddity, which is a 100w Session Man combo, which according to Gar has a BTO power section. It sounds nice, but lacks that vicious front end.
