Vintage stack for tele Stk-t3b split volume

Hi Gents,

Odd observation but when my vintage stack is split it sounds louder than in humbucking mode.... how??

Either way it does sound truly awesome to my ears though!

Anyone else have this?

Re: Vintage stack for tele Stk-t3b split volume

The lower coil is only really there to help cancel hum and RF interference. It is too far away from the strings to contribute very much musical signal. Hence, in terms of apparent signal strength, the difference between the two modes is not great.

In single coil mode, you may find that more high frequencies come across. Depending on your type of amplification, this might be enough to explain the "extra" volume.

It definitely sounds ‘thinner’ (not sure if more single coil like would be the term as I don’t have a direct comparison) so the high
frequencies as you say may make it appear louder, it just seemed really noticeable to me.

Thanks for the reply funkfingers, guess I don’t need to be packing myself off to a padded cell just yet!

Hi there I'm new on the forum. I'm looking for s1 wiring with my hot stacks for Tele? Anyone out have a diagram?

Welcome to the forum.

The support section of the Fender website has schematic diagrams for the Deluxe American Telecaster. How useful this is depends upon what sorts of coil combinations you were hoping to get.
