Hi guys i have been playing around with this idea for sometime and i would like to know what you guys think?

I don't think it's a bad idea, but some redesigning might definitely be in order.

Basically, stop sticking strat parts on it.

It can be done nicely if you design it more around a violin's aesthetics than just putting the body shape of a violin on a superstrat. just like a violin, viola, cello or double bass, you gotta let the wood show itself off.

i am not at all keen on a classical looking one. my original idea was meant to be based of gilberts ibanez pgm

Dude I like the first mock up a lot. I'd round the cutaway out a lil more, kinda like an LP though.

Keep us posted if you ever start on this beast. :headbang:

please for the love of all things sacred, kill off that strat headstock. it looks so fugly on the violin body :(

yeah man its just a rough picture the headstock is there only because thats the only shape i have on file.

I think i have to many projects on the go lol

btw i like that your design includes the "pointy" bits of the violin design, unlike pretty much every other violin guitar/bass.

I like it. Just a suggestion I think a diff headstock though a 3 in line, would look more classy.

Actually, the Fender headstock is interesting on that design. I had never before realized how much a strat headstock looks like the profile of a violin scroll:

I also like the pointy bits. The Hohner and Ibanez designs should have kept that detail. Cool project!
