Violin simulator?

Ok, we have a acoustic guitar simulator(I think Mathias Jabs of Scorpions would be using one now on tour for the Humanity intro). Why not make a Violin one? it would make tap licks sounds so cool, or shifter scale quadruplets climes from E string to E string ..... GAS !!!!!!

Re: Violin simulator?

a boss slow gear, or one of its many clones. also, the cheapest is the volume control on the guitar.

Thats exactly why I used example of acoustic guitar simulator, not just volume swell stuff, the pedal that gets close to reproducing the sonic charachtiristics of an actual violin.

Re: Violin simulator?

I manage well with overdrive from amp, delay and volume swells from the knob..

Re: Violin simulator?

Delay, volume swells, this is all violin-like stuff. You wouldn't argue that you don't need acoustic guitar simulator, because you can do everything that pedal does by just turning down the single coils and playing through chorused 100% clean amp, would you? You guys are missing my point, I want a pedal that simulates violin just like acoustic guitar simulator pedal simulates accoustic.

Then you're not going to get it without this:

Re: Violin simulator?

$595.00 just for one sound? With all the neo-classical shred crowd I am surprised there is no one single violin stomp box.

Re: Violin simulator?

Why would a neo-classical shredder want to sound like a violin? Why not just learn the violin? I'm sure it's very rewarding.

Well the whole arpegios thing that Malmsteen brought on was heavily influenced by Nicollo Paganini, how many neo-classical shredders took a swing at Vivaldi's Four Seosons? Trust me there would be a creative response in this product from this crowd.

Re: Violin simulator?

Zoom GFX 707 has a violin setting, and it tracks fairly well with guitar, not so much for bass (I was hoping for a cello like sound with my fretless).

Re: Violin simulator?

with the right amount of distortion (turn the tone all the way down), an ebow and a volume pedal, you can get really close.

I use guitar synth, and the cool thing is that you get 1000s of sounds, not just one.

Re: Violin simulator?

I'd think the best way to get that tone would be either with a synth, or a fuzz pedal and low settings on the tone knob. I have heard that the Big Muff Pi gives "gobs of violin-like sustain" but I really don't know as I've never tried one. Just some guesses.

Re: Violin simulator?

I use my verbzilla with the mix and decay set really high, then I use volume swells. Sounds dead on like a violin.

Re: Violin simulator?

Godley & Creme of the group 10cc developed something called the Gizmo. Battery-powered, pressure-sensitive for dynamics/attack, spaced for TOM, Fender 6-string and 4-string bridge. Along came the Ebow, and the Gizmo disappeared.

Re: Violin simulator?

i use my Ebow a lot, but it really is its own thing- it doesnt try to sound like a violin, but what it has is remarkable. it takes a lot of getting used to, but it is really a great effect when used well.

Re: Violin simulator?

Ok, Ques que se Ebow?
http://www.ebow.com/

It's basically a device that uses a magnetic field to cause the strings to vibrate continuously and can even stimulate harmonics. Pretty cool, I haven't tried one but I've seen them used.

EDIT: I just took a listen to some of those clips, and WOW, that definitely does the violin sound. Check out Eleanor Rigby.

I think it's a matter of tweaking the tone right and sharpening up on volume rocker pedal use. An actual pedal which does all this would be highly fashioned but probably not too popular. Even acoustic simulators are criticized by a lot of guitarists, while their effects can be done better by an EQ pedal and maybe a reverb.
