Couldn't wait any longer and had GAS to feed, so I cashed in my back ordered Navarro credit and got these two with cases and a few bones back in my pocket that I'm going to put towards upgrades (pickups, pots, etc.).

I had intended to pick u the V and either an SG standard, SG classic (he has them in black) or a Firebird; but oddly enough I was plesently surprised with the Sheriton and settled on that instead.

Saul has some very cool stuff in stock, a bunch of Pages, Rossington, all kinds of other historics (even a real 59), and three Flying V customs I'd never seen before. If I get pics of them, I'll post them too.

very nice...but...i have to be honest and say i don't think i would have passed up the Navarro PRS for them (it's just so damn sexy). however getting the V and waiting on the Navarro...sure hehehe

and the gold hums will look sweet in the V like you have planned!

The Navarro has looks going for it, but unfortunately it has the three things I dislike most in guitars, 24 frets, a trem, and neck pickup moved from the sweet spot under the 24th fret harmonic (moved because duh, there are 24 frets, LOL). So I know in my heart of hearts it wouldn't have lasted anyway.

this is true...the trem turns me off a bit on it...the 24 frets i can deal with. but, i hear ya if you know it would be in and out of your hands then your better off! enjoy the new gear!

I hate to get into this, but I don't understand the 24th fret harmonic line of though. I do think that neck pickups sound better on 22 fret guitars, but simply because they're moved farther from the bridge that inch or so. Once you touch a fret, that 24th fret harmonic 'sweet spot' changes position.

More simply, the neck pickup being moved closer to the bridge changes the tone. I won't pretend to know any secrets or science as to why other than the obvious; that is the further you go from the bridge, the wider the string vibration pattern, and wider string vibration makes more bass. Move the neck pickup closer to the bridge and it loses warmth.

As for say, pinch harmonics, the sweet spot to pick them between the pickups deosn't change when fretting on different frets, so there's something to that part that I don't know anymore than when I play I find that spot to pick in and it stays the same no matter where my fretting hand is.

I'm the same way with pinch harmonics, I never found 'sweet spots,' they just come out when I pinch that sucker.

It might be somewhat blasphemous to the original look of it, but I think the V would look killer with EMG's and black guards.
