Re: Visual Sound H20 Chorus/Echo?
I'm probably going to get the H2O, but I'm waiting on some Holy Grail pups, and I want to try it first with the new pick-ups in my Strat. According to the VS site, the new models of the H2O, J&H, and Rte 66 have been upgraded from the older models. The volume has been raised, the J&H and Rte 66 had a bass boost added, and they have an active bypass with special buffering. My J&H pedal doesn't cause any tone-sucking as far as I can tell.
That said, I will be selling the J&H, but not because of any lack of quality. I love the Jeckyll side, but the Hyde side sounds a bit too "scooped" for my tastes. Maybe it's because I'm using single coils and not humbuckers. I'm sure that if I added an EQ pedal it would be perfect for me. But, I know that the EQ will add noise and I'd have to keep using my NS-2 to kill it. That's why I'm going with the Holy Grails; to get rid of the noise and to cut down on the amount of pedals I'm using.
BTW, I did try the H2O with a stock Amer. Series Strat like mine, and it sounded pretty nice. I think the only "bad" thing is that there is no effect level on the chorus side. It didn't bother me when I tried it, though. The Echo side seems like it will take some tweaking to find the right setting for me, but once I find it I'll just "set it and forget it". I did notice that my sound was a lot "fuller" using the H2O. Since right now it's just me on guitar playing with a bassist and drummer, that would work out in my favor.
