Vocalists: Mic Mechanic or Create XT ???

Aceman

I am your doctor of love!
Which TC Helicon box would you recommend, if any? HAve you even used any of these???

Re: Vocalists: Mic Mechanic or Create XT ???

I've used the original Create for many years. It sounds good and had held up well. But I can say that the stomp switches aren't as robust as the average guitar stomp switches...the same switches went belly up on another TC unit owned by a band mate. I'd say you'd still be fine with just a little care. Said band mate was a little rough on his TC box. The Create can do many things but the UI though it looks simple enough is anything but. The knobs can be buggy as well...taking their time to recognize that you're actually twisting them....OH, you want to change a parameter? .....OK, it's just that it's been a while and I thought you liked this sound... Perhaps the newer version is better? If your just looking for a little bit of verb/delay the other box you mentioned looks the better bet.

Re: Vocalists: Mic Mechanic or Create XT ???

I have one of the TC pitch correction pedals
If you are close to pitch , ie within a few semitones, it will bring you up or down chromatically
But it won't do the autotune thing wherewith puts you in a key

They make some that do Create may be one of those

Mine seems built well

Re: Vocalists: Mic Mechanic or Create XT ???

Well, the Mic Mechanic is simple/easy, but generally runs about the same as a used Create. So it is really flip a coin.

extra mojo I don't need is waste/confusion.

Then again, can't do it if you don't have it!

Re: Vocalists: Mic Mechanic or Create XT ???

I know somone whos trying to sell a create for 85 or so.

Really - have them contact me.

Is it this season's model with the "tone" button or the older one - not that I care.

But yeah, a lot of foo dads and buttons, that I might not use for slightly cheaper than a good buy on a Mechanic.

Re: Vocalists: Mic Mechanic or Create XT ???

I have the blue "play" model and it's freaking amazing. I don't sing well but it's hard to tell with this thing. Pitch correction, doubling, harmony, etc... well worth the price of admission, especially on the used units.

Her? :naughty:

This better not be a trap….

Re: Vocalists: Mic Mechanic or Create XT ???

I say get voicelive 3 that way you get it all and better resale value. I see some ebay good values on it.

Re: Vocalists: Mic Mechanic or Create XT ???

I'm reasonably happy with the Create XT except for the flimsy power supply.

I still haven't fully dialled it in but I'm getting there.

I'm a guitar player, who sings on occasion. Poorly. My Boss RV-3 is sufficient. Either of these is way more processing power than I really need.

Voice LIVE is way more than i want to spend even way used. And 100 times more crap than I need or will use.

Have we mentioned I'm cheap???

Re: Vocalists: Mic Mechanic or Create XT ???

lol dont get any of it thenz

thats what most do!

Hey - I AM a guitar player. I can't crap with delay, pee without chorus, or breathe without any reverb!

Need a little sum thin' sum thin' to flavor the stew!!!!

I hear you, I'm the same way. I only picked it up because I was the only one in the band doing backup vocals and I needed a crutch. I only use two or three presets, but they are well worth it if you can find a used one at a reasonable (for you) price point. What kind of guitar player passes on something just because it's more than they need? :D

Re: Vocalists: Mic Mechanic or Create XT ???

It was a good deal. If I didnt have the POD HD I would have gotten it, but the HD does a great job filling in on vocal effects. Even has xlr in, though no phantom power so I have to run my art pre into it. When when I get the parallel processing thing to do clean compressed vocals and bass on the other channel I'll be pretty set.
