Voltage supplied for PU's

An awkward question, but curious none the less. Do pu's have a draw of electricity that they use? Does the input supply on demand or is there a low voltage limit? For each humbucker i have going at once does the amount get split between the pickups (hence reducing the output of each) or would 3 simultaneous humbuckers each get the same voltage as only having one powered at a time..

Re: Voltage supplied for PU's

passive pups don't use any external power supply, in fact they create electric current. Since movement of the strings causes the magnetic field of the pup to pulse at the same rate the string does(that's the reason why electric-guitar strings must be ferro-magnetic, meaning being able to be influenced by a magnet), it causes electron movement(= electric current) in the wire coils, therefore the pups emit a low inductance voltage which is sent to the amp, which translates the pulsing current into sound. So pups don't need external power(at leats passives don't) since they are kind of low power generators on their own.
