Truth. It's just a master volume control. It will NOT get you power tube saturation at lower volumes.

It's placed in the effects loop. That's ahead of the power amp. The power amp is not being pushed hard, it's getting a weaker signal.

You could get the same result from putting an effect in your effects loop and turning the output gain on your effect (many rack effects have an output volume setting for each patch).

thats what I figured. I figured its the same as the level slider on my EQ pedal.. I just wanted to make sure I was correct.. thanks!!
