volume/expression pedal's

hey guy's i ve got three volume pedals layin around, but i really need an expression pedal. So does anyone know if you can convert a volume pedal
into an expression pedal? And How? Or should i just buy it?

i use my ernie ball volume pedal as a midi continuous controller (expression) pedal with my rocktron midimate ... the midi mate accepts a RTS stereo plug ... ring is send and tip is return (or vice versa) .... i use a stereo splitter to isolate ring and tip on their own cable ends and connect them to each side of the volume pedal and i am good to go .. depending on the patch, i can controll anything that the midi device can be prgrammed for

ok i have a Goodrich stereo output vol pedal and a Line 6 DL4 delay so if i had two stereo splittersi could use the vol pedal as an expression pedal does that sound right?
