Voodoo Amps

Just saw today that Vodoo offers a 25 watt hand wired Plexi clone, in addition to the normal 50 and 100 watt versions. I wonder what a 25w Plexi would sound like? Do you think there will be any loss of the classic plexi tone because of the wattage?

I listened to the sound clips of the 50 and 100, and have to say that they are some monsterous beasts...one of the best Plexi clones I've listened to.

Just curious...anyone have any experience with these..or thoughts on them?

I had an 18w Burriss Plexi that was super sweet....but 2 EL84s are gonna sound different to 2 or 4 EL34s (I'm assuming it's 25w w/2 EL84s).

The upside to the lower watter is, of course, you can crank the hell out of it without pissing everyone off. Granted, 25w is still pretty damned loud

All those "Mini Bluesbreakers" and 18 and 20 watt Marshalls just don't sound anything like a true plexi to me...however, the VooDoo Amps 25 watt VPLEX uses a pair of 6V6's which sound much more like EL34's than just about any other power tube out there!

and trace knows his stuff. if you use a low wattage speaker so you are pushing it im sure itll sound nice. it aint gonna be no 100w stack but i bet its cool

And if I might add, Trace is a super cool guy to chat with.

I called once when I was gonna grab a JMP-1 from someone overseas (about a power conversion) & he was super cool ....very personable & willing to help in any way :bigok:

Those guys rule at voodoo. I am sure it will be high quality and sound great. For a little more $ they can tweak it some for you, i bet

I was just browsing, looking at some of their stuff. I like the Wichdoctor line of amps they make too. I'm actually waiting on Scott_F, to see if he can build me something, so I'm not looking to buy one right now.

I know Voodoo does GREAT stuff. I just look at the price of a 50w Plexi from them, or a Witchdoctor, and then think...damn, I could almost get a Bogner.
