Voodoolab Analog chorus

Well dunno how it is supposed to be a copy of a CE-1.....
Anyways stuck in a MN3102 instead of the what ever was in there before...forgot...think I changed last year or so....
It has a strange LFO as well...changed a cap it seems as well...erm..
Stuck in two sockets for the clock and BBD, was too lazy to change the op-amps into some I like better, maybe oneday?
The LED got changed as well...Now it is sounding like this instead.
Used my CS Tele....at the short dirty piece I kick in the DMMTT and a Boss CS-2 and a modified OD-1 Boss...

reverse engineering for a new CM product? :naughty:

it sounds nice... :fing2:

Re: Voodoolab Analog chorus

Eh no.....Thomas and me do have a chorus waiting, we just do not have the time right now to finish it...but it will have little in common with most out there....hehe
Thanks.....will do some extra mods when I get the time....

Re: Voodoolab Analog chorus

i got one of those voodoo pedals with high hopes....but in the end i kept my ce-3 (modded so it sounds more like a ce-2 using your own advice re: cap changes etc Vasshu!) cos it just sounded thicker and warmer.
i know you dont belive the tru bypass mojo tho....but the bypass on the voodoo sounded noticeably better. Itd be a great to get a chorus that sounds like a ce-2 (or stereo like a ce-3) but also have the dreaded true bypass.

Re: Voodoolab Analog chorus

Well...why is it the buffered bypass that gets faulted?
Maybe you just have impedance issues when it comes down to it?
TB sucks in many ways than more.....but then again who cares?

Re: Voodoolab Analog chorus

Any time I ever heard anyone say that the Voodoo Lab chorus was a clone of a CE-1, I just figured they've never heard a CE-1.

Cheers.................................... wahwah

Re: Voodoolab Analog chorus

Haha yeah....I tried to hear it...but has nothing to do with a CE-1....
So I just started to do things to it....then it might turn out to be useful!
By the way the socalled TB on this one is not quite normal;)

Re: Voodoolab Analog chorus

I tried a Voodoo during my chorus search. I agree it sounds nothing like the old Boss. I found it to be very mushy and bass-heavy.

I wound up getting an old CE-2 on eBay for cheap. Bought it from the Indigo Ranch Studios lot that was being sold off a while back. I can't see myself ever wanting another chorus - it's beautiful.

Re: Voodoolab Analog chorus

Got a Dimension C and a CE-2, plus a Maxon CS-505....also have a few others...but the CS-505(same as the old Ibanez) it just the chorus for me in most cases...
Anyways I am looking at the weird frequence changing chip they installed, seems to be changing when the speed is increased or decreased....it is linked up with the LFO...
Odd setup....

Re: Voodoolab Analog chorus

Based on and a Copy of are two different things.

I dig the CF-7 Voodoo model. Then again, it has a few more adjustments/parameters you can tweek.

When you chase a brand name tone instead of good sound, easy to get burned...

Re: Voodoolab Analog chorus

I actually liked the Voodoo Lab Analog Chorus, I'll agree I didn't find it to sound like a Boss CE1 I did find it very useful, it's actually one of my favorite chorus pedals.

I like the Small Clone, TC Electronic, and the VL Analog Chorus best. It really just depends on what you are after.

Which is why I got the CF-7 by Digitech.

Re: Voodoolab Analog chorus

I'm just glad Niels has allowed all of you to even discuss this thread. As long as you do not bore him or repeat anything that has been said before, you should be okay.

For one, I have never thought the VLC sounded like the CE-1.

I agree with Ace in regards to the Digitech CF-7..... a very overlooked and great sounding Chorus pedal. It can be tweaked to sound very close to emulate some of the better sounding chorus tones.

However my favorite is still the Danelectric Cool Cat 18 volt model. Just two knobs of the best acoustic chorus I have used.

As for the modification made to the Voodoo Lab Analog chorus.... from the sound sample, .... well it did nothing for me, so I would keep experimenting with it Niels.

Re: Voodoolab Analog chorus

It seemed like the discussion was about the CE-1 and comparisons to the mods you are performing on the VLC pedal. The mods may be your own inspiration and that is great if its working for you. Thought this would show some comparisons and major differences in the circuit design.

That's my reason.........What's yours?

Re: Voodoolab Analog chorus

You guys are just making me feel like more of an idiot for selling my old ce2.

I have a Boss CEB-3 bass chorus, very similar to the CE-2, that totally isn't Niels's pedal, that you can totally buy for cheap.

;) :D
