I'm looking for something surfy that will still do rock n blues n country. Would like to keep things between $500-$750.

Fender Pawn Shop Offset Special in either Shell Pink or Black
DiPinto Galaxie IV in Seafoam Green
something else?

Hallmark Custom 60 - it's $999, but will smoke a DiPinto/Eastwood/whatever.

Classic SDUGF: ask for a decision between two guitars, get loads of other options and no-one mentions the original two.

(not a rant, just an amused observation)

lol yeah this is becoming problematic but I'm having fun with it.

I've been thinking about getting a DiPinto for ages but now that Fender has the Pawnshop Offset Special that one is kinda winning my heart.

I've already got a couple single coil guitars so having a semi hollow and the jazzmaster single coils is appealing to me.

You know these decisions wouldn't be so tough if I'd just win the lottery already.

I vote for the one you can't put down when you go play a bunch of guitars.

Re: vote for my next guitar something surfy

I only have sam ash, guitar center, and two indepenedent stores nearby. None of them really carry the surfy/whacky stuff.

This is where like PGS, etc come in to play and hopefully other eclectic people like me that dig the unusual/strange.

Re: vote for my next guitar something surfy

the offset special looks like a sweet axe to me too. another guitar you might try is the fender jaguar...it is very surfy and cool. it is fairly easy to find them, since they have sort of a cult following, but it isn't exactly a mainstream guitar. if you haven't played one yet I highly recommend it.

Re: vote for my next guitar something surfy

I'd been very tempted by the Johnny Marr Jag it's just a little more than I prefer spending. Although you can think of it as already being tricked out so I wouldn't be dropping hundreds on boutique pickups, better bridges etc.

I think I'll pass judgement when the local shops get the pawnshop offset in stock and I can get my grubby little fingers on it lol.

I also love Jazzmasters :)
