Re: vote for my next guitar something surfy

I have had a serious crush on that thing for years. It will be mine one day.

Yeah, dude!

That is one of the first guitars I ever fell in love with. I would be cool with the blue one, but I wouldn't mind having a red one either. One day I will have one on my rack.

Squier Cyclone

Just in case you decide by "surfy" you actually meant grunge and alternative rock.

Re: vote for my next guitar something surfy

nah when I say surfy I mean like Dick Dale, Ventures, Safaris, TransAtlantics, etc.

I think cranked Fender amp with a brown reverb tank in front of it driving it hard with those dripping wet reverb tones and the wonderful tremolo picking and tasteful vibrato.

Re: vote for my next guitar something surfy

You need a Tele with a trem --- so go for that Reverend Six Gun rd posted

Re: vote for my next guitar something surfy

lol at one point I thought about routing my St Blues T-style for a tremolo but I just like it so much now.

Especially now that it has Lollar Tweed pickups in neck/middle and a 4 conductor El Rayo in the bridge.

Re: vote for my next guitar something surfy

Check out the Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster, tried one just last week and loved it!
One of the best feeling necks I've played on a new Fender/Squier in years!

Seriously - check out the Hallmark stuff. Made by the guys who learned from Joe Hall and Semie Mosely. Stupid cheap for the quality of the instrument.

"And you shall never hear surf music again."

Jimi Hendrix

I gotta go with Jimi on this one.

Re: vote for my next guitar something surfy

oh spare me if you don't have anything constructive to add then don't add anything, I guarantee you that you can't possibly argue your way out of telling me that surf music had no influence on jimmy page (who I'm assuming is or is one of your favorite guitarists).

and if you are going to do the jimi hendrix line please note that he was good friends with surf guitar legend dick dale and was heavily influenced by surf music
