WOW !!! I just played one of these for the first time with my standard mij strat and I must say this is an amazing amp. Things I liked the most.

1. Tremolo sounds amazing
2. Top Boost gives a really gritty transparent overdrive sound
3. really nice cleans.

things i didn't like

1. Reverb just doesnt compare to the fender blackface stuff imo
2. can get a little harsh sounding


overall I really like this amp and am planning on grabbing one to use with my Twin Reverb.

any opinions?

It's my 3rd favorite Vox amp, based on sound. Second, if I take into account the feature set. And first if I think about the fact that 15 watts is more than enough for me. They're quite nice.

try a VT120+ and see what you think then, the VT+ series do seriously kick ass.

120 Watt modelling amp? I'll pass.

Don't get me wrong; I use models. More than most. Probably more than almost anyone here, expressed as a percentage of my recorded output. And the Valvetronix series is nice. But that amp would never make it onto any potential purchase list for me.

try a VT120+ and see what you think then, the VT+ series do seriously kick ass.

yea I can't get into modeling amps at all unless it's for practicing and I got a mustang 1 for that

Reverb is kinda strange on a Vox for starters.....haha
Change the tank.....and why should it sound like a fender anyways??
All amps can be harsh...unless it is a pile of mud in all settings...hehe

But them are sweet amps!

yep it was the hand wired model looks and plays amazing. I didn't mean it should sound like a fender cause it shouldn't I was just stating I prefer the vox trem and I prefer the fender reverb.

The HW series are amazing for sure. They only do 1 'tone', but they do it unbelievably well, and look vintage to boot.

I think VOX is on a winner with the HW series. Its like there's this retro/simplicity kick with part of the market, and more manufacturers seem to be doing simple back-to-basics amps:

Marshall class 5
Blackstar Artisan
VOX HW series

Just to name a few.

Yes I agree it does only do the one tone but its so freaking good. I feel the same about fender amps too there is no substitute for the sound they create.

I really wish Fender would do something like this too. But im guessing there is much more money to be made in the modeling amps like the new mustang (which i think is the best sound fender modeling amp Ive heard)
