Vox AC50 HEAD

Yea or no? I have a shot at getting one with a 212 cab with vintage 30s.

This would replace my vox ac15.

I think it's an upgrade, a step in the louder and more capable direction.

It has a cleaner ac30 type channel and a heavier channel. I use the cleaner channel for playing and heavier channel for soloing.

GET IT !!!

. . . there are some pretty decent demos on youtube !

I like the crunch this amp can get. Almost, JCM800-like . . .

Re: Vox AC50 HEAD

I'm thinking that the cleaner channel is a good platform for some vintage rock tones. Maybe if I dial down the hotter channel I can use it for soloing?

Re: Vox AC50 HEAD

Seller is asking $400.

I'm selling my ac15 tomorrow for $500.

Re: Vox AC50 HEAD

I think I can pick up a Marshall 4x10 cab for $200. It's kind of beat and the speaker size isn't ideal, but the speakers are new 75 watt eminence red coats. It will get me through gigs until I have another cab.

$400? That's a steal. I'd play it for a minute or three to make sure everything is in good working order and then buy it. Good luck.

Re: Vox AC50 HEAD

Yeah, they're cool. Not the normal Vox sound, but a damn good one anyway.

This has kind of been my experience.
I have only heard two...both were played at volume in a decent size studio.
One was through a 2x12 with Blues...the other was through a 2x12 with a Wizard/Governor combo.
They seemed to be a cool head...kind of got you into the BF Bassman and 50 watt Plexi arena.
Seemed like a decent amp to have...especially at 400 bux. I imagine the amp was not used much.?
Anyway.....let us know.!
best

Re: Vox AC50 HEAD

I guess it's been used a moderate amount I think they stopped making them around 2007.

The "clean" channel is the sound. It's crisp and clear, sounded great with my Gibson.
