Vox AD15VT

This amp just happened to follow me home from the music store today. This little amp smokes for a practice amp, can't believe that I'm getting this much great tone and low end from an 8"speaker. I was torn between this and a Cube 30X that I tried last night and hands down the Vox smoked the Roland in every way. Like all Valvetronix, it's very user friendly and easy to dial something in. I got it to set beside my recliner in the living room and it's a keeper that's for sure.

Re: Vox AD15VT

I want one.

My son and I have a Cube 30 here and I find it a little fizzy. I tend to use my Tech 21 TM60 instead.

Why did you ditch the VTH 60? Problems with it? I forget now? :smack: I still love my VTH 120 head though.

Re: Vox AD15VT

Hey John, the only reason that I sold the 60 was to raise funds for the Les Paul. I loved mine too!

Re: Vox AD15VT

I have had the AD30vt for several years and i love it. The Roland cube I have is a bit more flexible, or maybe just simpler, in the effects department since you are not forced into certain combinations of effects. I never use some combinations on the Vox. The vox has better fender tones for sure. I find myself using the Vox for classic blues and rock, and the Cube for heavier sounds and metal riffing. I like them both.

BTW; change the tube out with another identical one when the Vox starts to loose some of its tone (usually about once a year) and go ahead and put a drop of locktite on the threads of the input jack or you will be taking the amp apart to fish it out before too long. (Unless Vox has fixed this little design quirk)

Re: Vox AD15VT

In the future pick up the VTH 120....I love this amp! Used they aren't expensive at all really!
My buddy has had both the 120 head and combo and I agree that is a great amp. The only real differences that we could find when we a/b'd with my 60H was the better use of modualtion fx especially the stereo ones with the 120. Volume wise, no difference.

The Cube 30 that I tried out the other night just didn't have the feel that the Vox has IMHO. As far as the tube, I found that I really liked a GT Mullard the best for tone in my AD60H....until it died after a couple of weeks. I ran a JJ in there for quite a long time and really liked it, but put the original Sovtek back in when I sold it. BTW, how simple is it to get to the tube on the combos? I see it, but it looks like I have to remove the chassie to gain access.

Exactly....The effects in stereo is way cool, but otherwise the same amp overall...

Re: Vox AD15VT

Ditto grabbing that! Of course, I got my AD100VTH for $400 new at GC. You may be able to swing that deal, especially around the holidays.

However, I don't want to steer you clear of another forum bro's potential sale.

Those Valvetronix amps are worth a lot more than they sell for, IMO.
