Vox Amplug problems

I bought one a few months back as a convenient practice tool when I don't wanna plug in a cable and pull the katana amp out of its little hiding space. Or when I'm going to visit my mother for a weekend and don't wanna lug an amp there.

I got maybe 30-40 hours of use out of it and it's trashed already. The input jack seems to be the issue. You have to get it angled just exactly right and play with it and it'll finally work, otherwise it screams with feedback.

Anyone ever fix this ? There are lots of good reviews for the thing online but I'm guessing they all break down similarly after a few months of use. The build quality isn't exactly great.

I'm thinking about tearing it apart and wiring just an actual small cable in there or something. Not sure what can really be done though but it's $60 I'd rather not flush down the toilet so I Wana think of a way to fix it. As it is right now, it's far more convenient to just haul the katana out and get it all set up than to frig around with this thing trying to make it work. Only to have it cut out the second I start feeling the rhythm and move a tiny bit

Performed surgery, ground wire was disconnected. Flimsy little wires. Resoldered everything and it works a lot better now but still cuts out sometimes.

Check the guitar's Jack
A bent clip on the end of that would make it cut in and out and howl

Yeah, I can't imagine they were constructed for long-term use. I am happy it was something simple!

I've fixed several.

Yeah, the problem is the nature of it being pulled on by the weight and movement of the cable because it's up against the guitar.

It's common to break the 1/8" for sure.

Never seen one up close but could you glue or screw a clip to it so it can clip to your strap or back pocket so it's weight is supported and use a short male female cable.
Just a thought.

Mount the guts in the guitar cavity
Then a switch and an 1/8 jack on the outside

Then worry no more

Just headphone and guitar
BAM!!

I'd get some 3M dual locking strips and call it a day. That's what I did with my wireless and it has yet to fail me.
