VOX Coax pickups

ehdwuld

A Ficus
ok there is this fellow at work
who has a Vox with Coax? pickups

I havent seen the guitar
but he describes them as
P90 like in the center
with a rail on either side
kinda like P-rails with the rail coil wrapped around the outside

any ways he said the neck is bit muddy

and that because of the odd shape it is hard to replace just the neck

does anyone happen to know anything about these

maybe someone has one and could answer some questions for me

like what the dc resistance of the pickup is

Re: VOX Coax pickups

Guys I believe he's referring to the new Vox Virage guitars. The pickups are P90 shaped so any P90 should work.

Coaxial meaning a smaller coil on the inside and a larger hum-canceling coil that goes around the outside. The two blades you see are the dividers between the inner and outer coil. It's a unique way of making a pickup so I'm sure for some they sound perfect and others they are too much this or too little that.

Look into any P90 sized replacement pickup and it should work just fine.

Re: VOX Coax pickups

I played a Vox sc3...which ever the singlecut that doesn't have the full splitting ability. They were dark through an ac15. Like low output humbuckers. I really, REALLY liked the guitar. It was #3 behind the Godin I bought and the Nighthawk I wanted to buy. After deeper thought, I think I would have liked the Vox more than either.
