Thanks,
Eric

Re: Vox DA5 Models

If they are like their big brothers, and I remember correctly....

Clean 1 Dumble Clean
Clean 2 Fender Twin Reverb
Blues 1 Fender Bassman
Blues 2 Vox AC15
Blues 3 ??? Vox AC30
Hi Gain 1 ??? Marshall Plexi or JCM 800
Hi Gain 2 ??? Marshall TSL or Mesa Dual Rectifier
Hi Gain 3 ??? Mesa Dual Rectifier or Soldano
Drive Dumble Overdrive

Now that I have tried to figure it out, your little amp is missing several models that the bigger models have, and without suggestive titles, I can't tell which are missing. I don't think the little DA line are supposed to be strict models of certain amps like the larger AD??VT models are. They are just designed to give you several flavors, but the characters they are shooting for are probably the amps listed above.

Re: Vox DA5 Models

Alright. Sounds like all the Vox models are just in order but named differently then.

It would go something like this...

Dumble Clean
Fender Twin Reverb
Fender Bassman
Vox AC15
Vox AC30
Marshall Plexi
JCM 800
Marshall JCM 900
Mesa Dual Rectifier
Soldano/5150
Dumble Overdrive

Yeah, That sound right now. I didn't think the smaller DA were missing models. So the models listed above are correct and in order.

I was under the impression that the one listed as a JCM900 was modeled on the 2000 series TSL though. I may be wrong. They are both on my big AD60VTX and the British 90's (JCM900) doesn't sound like the "modern" model on the Smaller AD30VT I have.

Re: Vox DA5 Models

I guess it's a toss up between the DSL/TSL and the JCM 900 then...

I don't find it totally useful... seems pretty heavy but at the same time, Where are the mids??

Re: Vox DA5 Models

My favorites on there are Clean 2, Blues 3 for that Rock n' Roll sound, Crunch 2 for more of a Slash tone, High Gain 1 with Reverb and Chorus for a over processed 80's tone, and Hi Gain 3 for more of a Tony Iommi sound.

Re: Vox DA5 Models

its a TSL not a 900

and its a Soldano, not a 5150...

read the amp descriptions in the vox documentation (downloadable from their site) for the AD series.

The DA series are the same models but named even more generically (I suspect to avoid confusion and lost sales from people thinking the cheaper DA5/15 are the same as the tube ADT series)

Yeah, it looks that way, although I think the DAs are actually better than the Valvetronix ;D

Re: Vox DA5 Models

There's an old thread posted by JeffB and he said that that the voicing of the DAs are slighty different from that of the Valvetronix, and from what I've played I like the DA more, it sounds better for what I'm doing (shred).
