Re: Vox Ice 9 Overdrive...

Dunno how it sounds, but it's a cool-looking pedal, named after a cool tune. No pun(s) intended.

Re: Vox Ice 9 Overdrive...

I thought the saturator offered JS drive tone? What is the difference between the two?

Re: Vox Ice 9 Overdrive...

i enjoy the Satchuator thru some of my amps a lot... i'll be interested in trying out this new OD even if i'm not a real OD pedal user

Re: Vox Ice 9 Overdrive...

if i was trying to sell a distortion pedal

i wouldn't name it after a song that sounds like it was recorded on a DS-1 into a Fender Frontman.

why do these shred guys always have such ****ty tone?

Because they play to bloody fast for any tone to have any chance to be heard before the next note gets hammered out.

A wise man once said, "Music is, the time, between two notes being played".

Man, i have to sig this :cool2:

To make you mad, of course. :D

BTW you're not far off... a lot of the SWTA album was recorded with a DS-1 into a JC120 or a JMP. The Crushing Day solo was actually a Rockman.

For the record I don't think the tone on that song was supposed to be "good". I think it was supposed to sound weird in it's own way.

You can't possibly be talking about Satch! He has plenty of songs where he's not shredding it up every second. I think his tone is pretty happenin also. Its supposed to sound kind of weird, he's an effin alien! :duh:

Re: Vox Ice 9 Overdrive...

Hmm, seems this could be a perfect match for the new Egnater Tweaker. Methed out tone to the max!

Re: Vox Ice 9 Overdrive...

I'm surprised it's not called the "Fried Chicken Foot" with a big black stencil of that logo that seems to be getting put on everything. Maybe that's the next pedal.

Re: Vox Ice 9 Overdrive...

The Satchurator is a distortion pedal. This is an overdrive pedal.

I know, but he is not really known for his overdirve use ...way more his distortion .... It just felt a bit too cheesy right off the bat....

Re: Vox Ice 9 Overdrive...

what is funny is back in the day these guys like Vai and Satch recorded some of their best work on equipment that was either cheap and plentiful, or begged and borrowed from others.... yet they made it work... these days they can pretty much play thru anything they want... they have companies tripping to make stuff for them so they can sell more stuff... just the way the biz works...

so ya DS1's and Tube Screamers of course where part of their sounds... I like Vai's Ibanez pedal as it has both a DS1 and Tube Screamer in the one signature pedal... i just wish they had not incased it in tin...

i'm sure Satch has used TS Overdrives at one point... most likely to push a Marshall over to heavier crunch...

Re: Vox Ice 9 Overdrive...

I really dig the Satchurator as well, I have always had a fondness(love/hate actually is a better term) for the DS-1. It's just a refined DS-1 with a lead gain boost. When I was buying a new delay, I really wanted the Deja vu, but didn't want to wait. Got the time machine, and really enjoy it. Don't need a new wah, especially a $220 mass produced one. But the Ice 9 may complete my vox/Satch pedal tri-fecta!!

Same here.

I got my DS-1 used, in A+++ cond. for $30.00 (one week old model)

Don't use it as much as i did, but i can NOT get rid of it either.

NOPE, not 100% aimed at him.

I am referring to most shreaders here.
I do not get the metal shreadding thing.
