Yes i played one and i wrote a thread here .i think 2 weeks ago!
It was a big "excitement " for me to see the new vox AC100 in the shop ,and habe A,B,C'd with and Orange Rockverb 50 and the new Marshall 4 ch amp.
If you are looking for a AC30 with more balls ,get it.It has the sound.But one step further is painfull.
No definition ,no really usable hi-gain tones.
I hope the one i tested was somehow broken ,since it sounded that bad!The Orange Killed it so extremely ,i couldn't believe my eys and ears!I want to test the 50 watt version ,and than decide if it's crap or just another good Vox Amp.
But i really had great hopes for the new series.It blows tho!

It's the Classic Plus Series: AC50CPH & AC50CPH. Were these the ones you tried out? If so, it's too bad if they're that much of a let down.

Yeah.I tried he 100 watter ,and as i said ,the ac30 channel was descent ,as any other Vox ac30!(more headroom but that's all).But the Seccond Channel is really bad.I hope it was somehow broken or bad tubes or whatver.
I hope i get my hands on a 50 watt version these days.
I can review it better if i try another one!

That would be worth exploring (whether you got hold of a bad one). Soon as they hit Guitar Center, I'll get over there and take one for a spin. It'll be too bad if they suck, because Vox puts out some great stuff.

Got a chance to try out the 100w head at Sam Ash yesterday:
First off, they had it hooked up to a 4X12 Line 6 cab, even though the Vox cab was sitting under a Marshall JTM45 a few amps down, so I'm not sure if it was the ideal situation.
I only played it at low-to-medium volume and to my dissappointment, I was unimpressed. Couldn't get very good cleans out of it and the gain on both channels was too "buzzy" for me. I've been using a Crate Vintage Club 50w for years and what sold me on that one was the clean channel. Just beautiful. When you dime the clean channel, those EL84's really sing. Nice and creamy. The gain channel is great too.
Maybe it was the wrong cab, as I said, but it was underwhelming. If I run into another one, I'll insist they hook it up to the proper cab (if it's not already), and then crank it a bit.
