Peavey 6505MH vs 6505 120W

Hey, so with Christmas coming and me being in need of an amp head, I'd like to ask you about your opinions on my problem. I've done quite a research on google about this, but there were different comments, and I'm not really sure what to believe now. Basically I've narrowed it down to getting a Peavey 6505 head. I currently own 2 4x12 cabs, of which I use only one at a time (haven't done any stereo yet) - Marshall 1960A and a Randall (can't really remember the model, I think it's R412CB75 from what I just found on Google, it's loaded with 4 Celestion G12T-75s for sure, same as the Marshall). I play in a hardcore punk band, and I currently use a Marshall JCM900 100W head most of the time, however the tubes in it are changed with Russian 6L6's (I think) instead of the stock EL34s. At the time that I had them replaced it was a LOT cheaper than buying an original set, even though the maintenance guy told me that it would lower the head's power to about 50W, but that suits me pretty well. I currently don't ever go for more than 7 on the volume, with pre-amp and gain being at ~9-9.5. The head is good and all, but I need something more "modern" and metallish. My problem is that I play unmicced gigs really often. Most places where I play usually PA only the microphones, monitors and kick and snare drums. I also have a 25W "boutique" tube combo that I used for some time at the start, which I used to plug in to one of the cabs, which is a Fender Blues Deluxe copy I guess. I had it cranked at max, both gain and master volume, with a Boss DS-1 Keeley modded, and it barely did the job (didn't even handle it at some gigs). Sadly I don't have any availability for any of the heads that I want to buy in my country, and the only option for me is to order one and hope it will do the job. Basically I'm worried if the 6505MH will be enough, with it being only 20W, the pros of it are the price, size and weight (obviously). The dilemma here is that the 120W version is just too much power in some situations (I think), really expensive for maintenance (with so many tubes and all), and not really comfortable for touring. If I decide on going for the 120W version, I will most likely have to find a used one on the internet and get it shipped here, since I currently can't afford a new one (but I'd rather save up for it if the 20W won't do it, since I don't want to buy something unuseful). The average size of the venues where we play is about 10x15 meters (~30x50 feet).

TLDR; Will a Peavey 6505MH be enough to gig hardcore punk shows without guitar getting micced.

Thanks for the help in advance!

Sorry, forgot to mention something important. the JCM900 isn't mine, it's a good pal's amp that lets me use it.

If you need to get your own gigging head on a budget then I'd say it's hard to beat the 6505 or the DSL full-sizes. (new)
If talking used-amps then the door is wide-open for many things.

Yeah true, but I kind of like the 6505. There's a reason for so many people to use it, especially in that genre. I don't really like Mesas, Soldanos or Diezels, I've played some ENGLs that were really nice, but I don't even want to mention the price tags, same goes for H&K etc. I've narrowed it down to 6505 as I said because of the factors such as price tag, sound that I like and availability. Edit: I live in Bulgaria, so getting anything good isn't as easy as in US or UK, and most UK sellers don't post, they want collection. Getting stuff posted from the US is just ridiculous, would probably cost more than a brand new one.

Sounds like you prefer a slightly more bright cutting tone, so don't take the 6505+ off the list either.

Im gonna be honest and say that I was too lazy writing the 6505+ down. I'm up for whichever one I find used, I'm not that picky. I tried the 5150III 50W in a store, they had it in stock. It's a killer amp but not killer enough to cost 1500 Euro in my opinion. I don't have that much money to blow. I found some used 6505s in UK for about 600 Euros, hope I can get one of them to post it. Thanks for the advices, if anybody has any more tips or opinions for me I'd be glad to hear them.

Don’t count out a DSL100 (old or new version). It will absolutely do what you want! I play a lot of gigs just like you do and it totally delivers.
