Vox Tonelab

Guys, i'm thinking of getting the vox tonelab for direct recording to my laptop. Just wondering how the quality of the amp mods and cab sims are? I'm not fussed about the effects as i will mainly be using my stomp boxes.
Also, how does the power supply function. Is it a normal 9V adapter, which i can just use a plug adapter to use in Australia, if i buy from America?

I picked up a Tonelab a couple months back. I mainly wanted it for practice and for direct recording, too. It really does sound amazing through headphones, and the limited amount of recording I've done with it is very impressive. The models seem pretty useful (they even through in clean and OD versions of Soldano), although I can't say how close they sound to the real thing. I would have to say that you can probably get pretty close to whatever you're after, though.

As for amping it up, I'm not sure I will find a tone I'm happy with. I know this has been discussed on these boards before, but I'm still happier with my pedals than the Tonelab. I would like to hear from others who like its sound with an amp. Maybe I'm missing something here.

For what you can get them for now, I feel it is still a great value. If you do, you may want to experiment with changing the tube in it. I ended up liking the JJ in it the best. For what you plan to use it for, I think you'd have a lot of fun with it.

Yup, okay. So in terms of sonic values, it's a go for me. Just the power situation.
Is it a 9V adaptor, with the US style plugs, cause if thats the case, i can just get a adaptor plug thing. If the voltage is the standard american one of like 100+V i don't think i can use it in Aus cause its ~240V here. Damnit, what to do?

Vox is a British company, so I'd imagine that they'd make units that ship there the proper voltage. That's a good question for their customer service.
