Hey, i just got a vox valvetronix 30 watt. i've heard from reviews that the input jack on the amp is fragile and that for some it fell into the amp after just a couple uses? is it really that bad? if so does anyone know what i can do to strengthen the jack? also, if this has happened to anyone, how do u get the jack out?

Re: vox valvetronix

I had the 50 watt version for about....1 day. I hated it! I couldnt get a clean clean out of the damn thing! so I traded it for a Marshall AVT50 Combo...then a Crate XT120R

Re: vox valvetronix

I have the 120 VTX Valvetronix head and the matching AD 2x12 cab and have had 0 problems with my amp...I have great presets and great tones coming out of my setup?

Re: vox valvetronix

I had heard the same thing about the jack, but it doesn't sound like it's that much of an issue. If it were to fail during a gig or something, there's always the other input anyway. Then you just open it up and fish it back out later.

Re: vox valvetronix

I have the 60 VT head and have had no problems at all with the jacks. That said, I think that it is always a good idea to make a loop through the carry handle then plug in just for safety.

Agreed....Maybe some locktite or Krazy glue around the plastic retaining nut would keep the nut from loosening and allowing the jack to drop into the chassis? This isn't a friendly amp to access internally to work on,at least the VT and VTX series isn't.. :smack:

Re: vox valvetronix

Sorry JumpMarine, I dont get what you mean by looping the cable around. How does that help to keep the input jack from getting loose?

Re: vox valvetronix

It doesn't help with keeping the jack from getting loose, but it will keep you from splitting it if you happen to trip or tug on the plugged in cord. Keep in mind that the Valvetronics doesn't have heavy duty 1/4" jacks and will break if abused. Now what I meant by looping the cord, run the jack end through the carry handle and loop it back through again then plug it in. In the event of tugging on the cord you put pressure on the carry handle instead of the 1/4" input jack.
