Vox Wah vs. Jimi Hendrix Crybaby vs. Zakk Wylde Crybaby

Ive been wondered about this... So, Jimi Hendrix used a Vox wah back in the day right? Ok, but now they have the Hendrix Crybaby, so is the Hendrix wah basically a Crybaby that has a fatter response to sound like a Vox or what? Then there's the Zakk Wylde Crybaby. I know Zakk used the Hendrix Wah for years and now has his own, which im assuming sounds very mush like the Hendrix Wah. Is it basically the same thing as the Hendrix Wah just with the Fasel and a different look? Anyway know the deal with this whole thing? Its confusing...

Re: Vox Wah vs. Jimi Hendrix Crybaby vs. Zakk Wylde Crybaby

I have first hand experience with this so ill help you out.

I hadthe Hendrix wah for about 2 years. The Hendrix was really fat as it said it would be, but it was really harsh and i got a ****load of feedback and the tone was pretty terrible.
So i ordered a Vox 847.. just stock it was much smoother with a much better tone than the crybaby, to put icing on the cake i got it modded by stratdeluxer97, now ill never look back, the best wah for hendrix ever, such great tones and a great sweep.
So in a nutshell, go Vox or better yet, Fulltone, i really didnt dig the crybabys.

Check out the fulltone clyde too, that things f***in smokin.

You'll probably want to look at wahs that are true-bypass, cause a lot of non-true bypass wah pedals suck tone even while they're off. That said, vox makes some damn good wahs, and i've never really liked the crybaby stuff too much. It's all about what you're happy with though.

The cry baby classic warrants a try. I like it alot. I think it sounds better clean then distorted though.

Marketing hype junk.

All Teese Wahs
Budda Bud Wah
Dunlop 535Q
Spina modded Vox

everything else is just a stepping stone to the good stuff.

My modded 847 smokes the Buddah wah and the 535 and a few other wahs you have mentioned buddy...Are these wahs listed in order of greatness? Mine would be at least in the top 3....

I have the Dunlop Hendrix Wah. Nothing to write home about.

Most of the Dunlop stuff out there today in a wah,is pretty lame....You need to get the right components into a wah to get the sweep and right vocal expression from a wah...

I have considered the Fulltone Clyde Deluxe, Budda Bud Wah, and Teese Wahs, but i would have to bye them without playing them cause there are no dealers nearby. Ive never tried the modded Vox, but i have tried the Dunlop 535Q, really versatile but didnt have the smoothness ive heard in some wahs. I want a wah that sounds AWESOME, has versatility but isnt complicated. The Fulltone Deluxe?

And how do the Fulltone Clyde's and Budda's sounds differ?

Re: Vox Wah vs. Jimi Hendrix Crybaby vs. Zakk Wylde Crybaby

I can speak for the clyde deluxe. I got one on my board, and even though i dont use it too often, the thing smokes. If you're lookin for a wah that sounds AWESOME, I can vouch for that. The budda wahs and teese wahs are also very good.

My favorite non-modded wah and best wah a guy can buy today,is the Fulltone wah,but only if we're talking vintage wah tones...

The Fulltone has the best sweep and best "early vintage" wah tone out of the several, and I mean several wahs I've played through.....

I like the Fulltone over the Teese PW also..
