Vwall Guitars

As some of you may know I'm about to buy an Jackson USA SL1, and pretty much Vwall can get me the best deal. But of course I'm ordering all the way from Texas, from what I've gathered from the dealer around here they are going to go the MF route and charge me about $1,800-$2,000 where I can get a regular black soloist for around $1,500 from Vwall. Thing is he mentioned it will take 3-6 months to get it in.

So I guess saving $300 is always nice. But I guess my question is what would you all do. I'm really kind of curious why it would take that long to get it in stock when dealer up here say they can get it in a week. I'm lost in it all. I guess since hes going straight from the factory?

Anyway so I really want to go about buying this SL1, people on this forum give Vwall a good rep, so based on what I've been told and the deal hes got for me I really just can't pass it up.

I'm just bothered having to wait so long for my Jackson. But I'm sure it will be worth it. Although I still haven't decided if I'm going to go local about this or not.

What would you do? Anybody dealt with Vwall before? Opinions please.

Because Jackson doesn't keep a guitar inventory to simply choose from and have shipped to your door in no time. These are handmade guitars. It takes a while to get one in if a dealer doesn't already have the order placed or one in stock. They aren't a big factory putting out gobs of guitars daily. In fact, you'd be suprised at how few guitars they put out at a time. 3-6 months is typical for a production model Jackson USA... try 9-12 months for a custom shop Jackson.

You're local dealer must have a connection to someone else that has them in stock to be giving a wait time of only a week.

I understand your pain on waiting as I'm in the middle of a long custom shop wait myself. However, its all worth it in the end. Like I said before dude, there are plenty of new ones being sold on EBAY from reputable dealers for 1400-1500. If you don't wanna wait for Vwall, I think ebay is the way to go. I wouldn't pay 1800-2000 for a production model from MF or your local dealer.

3-6 months is the standard lead tome for a n out of stock USA Jackson for ANY dealer. The only difference is that Scott Vanderwall tells you that BEFORE taking your cash and that Scott knows Jacksons like the back of his hand.... ;)

Scott is a Licensed J/C dealer and DOES get his guitars direct from the factory, like all licensed dealers do....

With that "one week" deal, I´d make sure the person you´re getting it from is a licensed J/C dealer and is not acquireing the guitar by other means..... "I´ll carry this brand , you carry that brand" deals between shops are quite common, that´s what the one week deal sounds like to me, but the problem is that most manufacturers won´t honor warranty claims if the guitar was acquired from a "grey" source (Non-licensed dealer).... what´s the good of a lifetime warranty if you´re going to void it before you even open the case? ;)

I think the 3 month thing is really being gracious. I'm sure it happens sometimes but I've always been told its typically the later 5-6 period when it will actually come in.

Re: Vwall Guitars

5 or 6 months isn't too bad, either. You could actually invest the $300 during that time period and make a little extra.

Yeah I don't think its bad at all for the quality product you get in the end. I mean, besides this forum, try and name how many people in real life you know owns a USA Jackson. I come up with a big squadoosh on my end.

Yep. Just myself.

Although Luke Duke did a setup on an 80's model Jackson for some guy. So I know of another.

It's funny to take it into GC or someplace to try out an amp. People are just floored by it. I had two offers on it the last time I took it around amp shoping. And the guy at the door that writes down the serial numbers always needs at least a minute to find it on mine. :smack:

Re: Vwall Guitars

Sorry I haven't kept up with this thread, I've finally got a chance to get online. But yea I'm going to order this Jackson, going for the SL1. Figured I would order it and go ahead and get it on the way.

I'm going to go for Vwall even though there is a dealer a few 100 miles away whos offering me a similar deal. Yea I'm going Vwall he has a rep!

Sl1 baby, I'd love to get the lightning sky paint job, but I want the custom shop job, where it all the way down the neck and body to the headstock, hmmm thinking about throwing in a reverse.....ooo custom? maybe...!

Re: Vwall Guitars

That would be sweet. I'll get me a custom Jackson one day. Don't forget to post pics and a review when it comes in.

Re: Vwall Guitars

well.. the factory has FAIK pre-built guitars.. and when an order comes in for an out of ordinary paintjob, they take one and do it, so thats why there is the usual 3 month wait (to let the paint wholly cure) 6 month wait is, if they dont have it there and have to build from scratch.

i'm sure zerb will either confirm this or say i'm totaly off.. i'm not the expert here

I´m sorry, but that answer was wrong. Thank you for playing, please come again with another quarter. :D

Jackson has no real stock of instruments on hand, they´re built in batches of 12 and simply finished to whatever orders are still backlogged. Of course there are a few dozen if not hundred instruments there at any given time, but i´d wager that 95-99% of those are already allocated to a dealer or custom order...

These batches are in a constant rotation... this month it´s king Vs, next month it´s kellys and so forth (timeframes are smaller, but you get the point)... depending on where in the rotation they are, it could well take 3 months for J/C luthiers to even know you ordered a guitar... and then they have to build it.

And then it may take another few weeks to get Dan, Mike or one of the inhouse airbrushers to do it if it´s a graphic (and depending on which exact graphic, of course... there are some only Dan and Mike can do), and of course at some point the finish has to dry so the guitar can be completed ;)

My day is coming around july/august, the wait is killing me.
Half of my trouble is figuring out exactly what specs/paintjob I want on ONE guitar.

The other half is saving up enough money. :smack:

Get yourself in on a Limited Edition custom shop run as I did. You may have to satisfice a little with exactly what you want but you'll definately save alot while still getting custom shop build quality, uniqueness, and paint. Sure its not a "one of a kind" custom shop guitar but only like you and 10 others will own one.
