Wah learning process.

Yeah, I have this march-type riff where I the accented double gets a really quick full-sweep sounds like a tiger roar. Awesome. I am begining to figure out how to use it during runs, but I can't get it right on the melodic slow frases, like Kirk does on the Unforgiven solo(one of the few wah pieces I like by him).

Actually the whole seventies cop movies/tele shows soundtracks had some awesome way playing.

Re: Wah learning process.

I essentially listened to 3 wha players:

1) Clapton with the Cream
2) Hendrix
3) Robben Ford.

Then I just put my foot on the wha and went up an down with my foot untill I liked it! :)

I hardly listen to Metallica (the wah solo on Unforgiven is amazing... I'll give them that)...
Now, again, to get the tone for melodic solos just play the wah gently... I mean it.. press it a little to the floor when you go to a higher string and a little up when you're playing on a lower string... but always- really gently!!! Bigger moves (still gentle) when you sustain and vibrate a note.

Again: gently!!!!!!!!!!!

And here's another cool tip for wah soloing (taken from Jimi's version to "Come on" (part III) (and SRV's even more amazing version to Jimi's version): play the same two or three notes on one string really fast (even tap them if you're into it) and take the wah up and down in a slower pace.. it will give you a fast and delicious wacka wacka woockoo woockoo effect.
Yeah I know writing stuff like wacka is not cool... but it's the only way besides listenning to the song... Try it out... I'm over using it...:smokin:
