wah mods

who does good wah mods?

John's the best! His handle is Stratdeluxer and he's right here on the Duncan User Forum most days. John has modded and rebuilt three or four of my wahs. Now my newer wahs all sound just like a vintage Vox Clyde McCoy wah like Hendrix used. Lew

Thanks lew....You're always so nice to me! :laugh2:

I stopped doing the mods simply because most guys can't afford the price of the needed components to get a wah to work really right...

If a guy gets his own inductor, pot, and switch, and wants their wah modded,I'd do it at that point....Before any mods, the inductor, switch, and pot is around $60 to $70 before any mods, plus shipping....

These days,I highly recommend either of the two Fulltone Clyde wahs...Great wah for the money and very vocal....

You're still welcome to send me your wah,but contact me so you know what other components are needed from there and where to get those parts..

Re: wah mods

 john it would be great if you'd do the work -- what parts do i need and where do i get them? -- my wah is a gcb95 and i want it to be as good as it can be....

Re: wah mods

I'd like a mod for the no-frills Dunlop Crybaby that would let me adjust the volume of the wah mode independent of the bypass mode.

Re: wah mods

damn John that's a shame dude, my Vox847 sounds absolutely fantastic with a strat after you modded it, especially after I added in a Banzai Halo inductor

True bypass on your wah is a pain in behind, but if you shoot me a PM I'll tell you what to get and we can work something from there maybe?

I Hate working on new Cry Baby pedals! :laugh2: I don't like the jacks mounted on the circuit boards and it makes true bypass mods more of a pain to deal with....The Vox 847 and 848 are the ones to tweak out.

Re: wah mods

How easy is it to mod the GCB-95's that were made in the 80's, since the input jacks aren't connected to the circuit board? Mine sounds scratchy even after cleaning the dust and cobwebs out of it. lol

Thanks

Pretty easy actually. I have one from '91-'92, Rev. E board. The jacks are mounted on the PCB but the circuit is very minimal, no input/output buffers. I was able to make it true bypass and also changed a few components to improve the sound. It still needs the inductor and pot changed though. They're still original.

Re: wah mods

Just a heads up to anyone looking to replace the pot in there Wah. For Poops & Giggles I tried the Pot that Hoffman amps sell for $15. It appears to be a quality made component. He state's it has a less radical sweep range than a Fulltone. In other words... It has a broad sweep range.:13: A Lil' to broad for my taste's.:smack: It's kinda lifeless IMO. So if your looking for a Classic wak-a-wak-a sound? This one won't cut it.:no1:

The Fulltone pot is my current favorite and has been for many years now...
