Waiting is driving me nuts...

Bought a used Les Paul from a Canadian seller. He shipped it Monday morning and according to the site it was already in this country on Tuesday. He said it's going Canada Post Expedited and that it's pretty quick. Here it is Saturday and I got a whole lot of nothing.

I don't get it. Ontario is right above me and if it already was in this country on Tuesday I fail to see why it's not in my hands by now.

I've always hated waiting for guitars to arrive and I still hate it.

If it makes you feel any better I recently ordered parts from the US and took exactly 2 weeks to be delivered.

Within the first 72hrs. they had crossed the US (and I suspect arrived in Spain).

Still managed to take two weeks to be delivered.

Re: Waiting is driving me nuts...

Did it say its IN the US or just that it reached the border? I've had stuff held for days clearing the boarder

Which is now why I get it shipped to the states and I go over and pick it up

Re: Waiting is driving me nuts...

I'm not patient at all so I can sympathize. It may just be stuck in customs. Sometimes they sail right thru and sometimes they get held for a few days.

Re: Waiting is driving me nuts...

Son of a *****. ****ing sellers. Guitar arrived today but the nut has a piece broken off on the low string. Not to mention the pickup mounting rings have cracks in them. And one knob is sitting wrong on the pot shaft so it looks like there may be an arc that has worn itself into the finish.

He did not tell me any of this.

The broken nut is the main thing which pisses me off. Now I gotta bring it in and make two round trips to my shop which is 60 miles away.

But I asked him to reimburse me for the nut and my gas.

You bought a guitar with no pictures?

Re: Waiting is driving me nuts...

So many things can be wrong with a guitar that's been fiddled with.

For me buying used it's either;
A. I can get my hands on it and give it a first-hand physical inspection.
or
B. Buy from a reputable retailer that is well-known to accept returns due to any dissatisfaction. (if there are no actual defects then you might still have some restock fee, like 10%ish)

That's just me though, I'm too lazy to deal with hassles like this, plus it causes me anxiety lol.
Many people do very well with ebay and reverb.

Of course there was photos. But photos don't show anything especially if the guy who took the photos didn't focus in on the blemishes. The guitar will be fine but I just need to get a new nut in there. I carved him a new one concerning his glaring omissions in his listing, and I asked him to reimburse me for the nut and my gas.

Great thing is because it's an older model there is none of that molex crap in the back. Cool! Plain and easy pickup wiring.

Re: Waiting is driving me nuts...

Did he ship it with strings at tension? That could have caused the nut problem

Re: Waiting is driving me nuts...

Then there would have a nut piece in the case. There was none. I imagine once he reads my note he will reimburse me for the cost of a new nut, they're inexpensive anyway. I'm proud of myself cuz I put on covers on my humbuckers for the first time and they work fine with no squealing evident. Took me longer than I anticipated installing my Duncans but I've only worked on Les Pauls a few times so as time goes on I will fine tune my technique and it will go quicker.

Re: Waiting is driving me nuts...

Install a polished bone nut. It'll feel and sound better than the original one. Make sure the luthier is a pro because a clean job on a Gibson is a little trickier than on a Fender.

Sorry to hear about your goods. I won't buy anything used without first seeing it.
