Walkthrough of replacing tubes?

Hey guys, I just got a new set of preamp tubes for my amp (Crate V32 Palomino), since it randomly started loudly crackling when I hit low notes, so someone suggested to me it was the preamp tubes. So I bought a new set of them (A Tungsol, Shuguang, and Sovtek LPS), and plan on replacing them as soon as I can for a show I have on Wednesday.

So, I took off the back panel, and instead of the tubes being right there, is the amp chassis, with the very imposing looking blue capacitors I know not to touch. So, I'm pretty sure the tubes are underneath that, I see the sockets for them on the circuit board, but, well I'm kinda afraid to take the thing off. Can anyone walk me through how to do this safely? Thanks very much!

Do a search on youtube. There's a vid of EVH's guitar tech replacing some preamp tubes and giving a walk through.

Re: Walkthrough of replacing tubes?

Sorry, I didn't really make clear what I was asking. Not as much removing the tubes themselves, but how to safely remove the amp chassis, since the tubes are on the other side of it. Just safety tips on how to remove it without electrocuting/killing myself I guess.

Remove the top screw on each side of the cabinet. .....then you can tilt out the chassis to get at the tubes. Make sure you have something to prop up the chassis, so you don't have to hold it the entire time...

or remove all four screws and remove the entire chassis.

I prefer the tilt back method.

Edit...Here you go.

Put the back cover on to reduce the risk of a shock and be careful!
