Walnut San Dimas Style Project

Re: Walnut San Dimas Style Project

So sweet it hurts my teeth. Only thing it needs its a reverse cbs. :D
And it's a shame the pickup ring holes are there because it would look awesome with direct mounted pups.

Nar- i love it as it is.

Haha! Thank you Kramersteen! You know, I really like the look without rings...maybe a little filler in the holes?

Yeah why not. Also then you could do my secret method of direct mounting pickups with easy on the fly height adjustment.. :D

That's a great idea! I'll check that old thread where you put that diagram down--that would look awesome!

Re: Walnut San Dimas Style Project

Just an update, one pickup came in and the other is coming via a pending trade deal. Shoutout to Kramersteen as I will attempt to use his diagram/idea to do a direct mount. I will attempt to fill in the holes for the pickup rings...think this one will look better with direct mounts...

Let me know if you have any questions. I think its obvious how it works but yeah its still a prototype.

I am glad someone is trying it

Will do! Being from the Good Ole Balmy South, my Northern friends would say "obvious" doesn't work south of the Mason-Dixon...but then again, you've got me beat in terms of north and south ;)

That is a great looking guitar! I was wondering how the mahogany/walnut coloring would look, but I think it turned out fantastic! I can't wait to see the finished product!

Thanks! I was nervous too–didn't want them to turn out similar but off enough to look tacky...but I think they compliment each other. Tentatively, a forum bro is going to do a trade/deal the middle of this month and I can get the bridge pickup. Looking forward to this getting wrapped up as well!

Re: Walnut San Dimas Style Project

I might have missed it, but what pickup are you planning on for the bridge?

Cole

I'm using a Dimebucker–high output and great for harmonics (so I've read and been told.) That's why I'm swapping out the Alnico magnet for a Ceramic in the Screamin Demon for the neck pickup. Should be an interesting combo.

That will be interesting for sure! The Dimebucker should look awesome in that guitar. I am eager to hear the results.

Thank you very much! Realistically, it probably won't be playable until sometime next month. But I will try to post some clips once she is finished.
