Buddy of mine bought a triple wreck or what ever its called and says its killer and utoob vids look cool too! I was wondering how it is and the SLO tortion and Pinnacle is supposed to deliver the browns. I cant afford all the amps, so if I can get close with pedals....???
thanks

Re: Wampler pedals?

I don't know about their amp-in-a-box pedals, but the Sovereign distortion and Euphoria overdrives are some of the best I have ever played. I currently own a Sovereign distortion and love it. I just put a Nirvana chorus on order so we'll see how that goes, but I have no doubt it's going to be awesome.

Re: Wampler pedals?

i've played the euphoria, the tweed 57, the black 65, the plexidrive, the plextortion, the pinnacle, the sovereign, and the paisley drive, and they have all been stellar. Among the best i've ever heard. Brian Wampler has a gift for distortion.

Re: Wampler pedals?

I love the Euphoria and Paisley Overdrive pedals. I was really keen on the Ego Comp too, but then I tried the Xotic SP Comp, which I liked a bit more (both a great pedals).

Re: Wampler pedals?

you tube vids seem to all be pretty good. the pinnacle got my attention since the others seem to be so good. there is a utoob vid of that one featuring Eds old tech. Brown is pretty impressive. hmmm

Re: Wampler pedals?

The Paisley Overdrive is the only pedal I use. I am looking to add the Ego Comp sometime this summer.

Re: Wampler pedals?

I only had an Ego but it was fantastic. If I ever have a need for a compressor that will be my first stop.

Re: Wampler pedals?

Nothing but love abnout the intarweb.

But as always - dirt is a personal thing...

Re: Wampler pedals?

I really like my '57 Tweed....great variety of Tweed and Bassman sounds.
Tempted to get a Black '65 based on demo videos and the positive experience with the '57 Tweed.

Re: Wampler pedals?

Beautifully built and designed by a guy who's probably the industry leader when it comes to ethics.

Buy wamplers, they sound great and are worth every penny.

Re: Wampler pedals?

Heres a little demo I made of my Pinnacle Deluxe. Killer Pedal!

Re: Wampler pedals?

Which one?
More than a few Wampler pedals here…

Re: Wampler pedals?

Wampler is one of those "can't lose" brands. As Ace said (albeit in January) it doesn't mean YOU would like everything they make, but you know it will be of good quality. Like, everything he sets out to do, he does it well. Currently I have an Ace Thirty, a Pinnacle Deluxe, and a Clarksdale (their new TS with 3 band EQ) and I love them all. If I were rich I'd have a SLO, a Euphoria, Sovereign, Plex, Faux Tape Echo, maybe the Paisley and the Mason, the Fusion one...the list goes on...

There's no other brand of pedals I can say that about. Every other brand has maybe 2 or 3 pedals I'd want from them.

Re: Wampler pedals?

Anyone has or has tried the Triple Wreck or the SLO?

Every high gain dirt pedal I've tried has had an inherent "fakeness" in it's transparency.
You notice this by rolling the gain back on the pedal, which also reduces the clarity, kinda like dialing the volume back in a guitar. Instead of a clear ringing sound, it becomes muddy and it dulls the note attack. There's lost frequencies and there's no way to bring them in. It's what the box does and it affects the feel and tone even with higher gain settings.
So, much of the high-end definition of these pedals is only available from a certain amount of dirt set in the box.

Do the SLO and the Triple Wreck suffer from this? Or I've just tried crappy high gain boxes?

Meh... had my Pinnacle Deluxe for all of 2 or 3 days. Didn't best the two Carl Martin Plexitones (V1) that came before it, nor did it best the Option 5 Destination Overdrive that I recently bought. I'd always heard about the awesome brown sound of the Pinnacle and the videos that I'd seen seemed to be pretty impressive. But it was a big disappointment for me. Very mushy/muddy compared to the Plexitone. Anyways... dunno about other Wampler OD pedals. But I'll have to get one on a trial and be convinced before I'll buy another. Bought mine used and still lost $30 or more on it to dump it.

Agree and not amp like Bogners are, like to try the big plexi tone though. My Bogner blue is sweet in my twin and the Burnley nice also

Re: Wampler pedals?

Yeah. Since my initial post I picked up a Bogner Blue and the wamplers I have owned/ tried, although pretty good, do not compare. That Bogner and the good old Zvex Distortron are tough to beat IME. They sound good whether the amp is clean or breaking up a bit.wamplers plex pedals seem to need a very clean/crisp amp setting and big volume to open up.

And yeah, Neils' Plexi tone. That pedal is oft overlooked cos it a asnt hyped up like pedals are today, but that one certainly is in my top 3 MIAB designs.
