Wanna Hear Some Really Old Songs From My Ex-Band?

May as well.

I just randomly found these on my computer and nearly had a fit.

These are from six years ago and pretty badly recorded. We were just a bunch of drunk-ass 17 year olds in a small room with a cheap mic in the corner.

I was the bass player for this band and I wrote most of these three songs (which is why they're so basic and repetitive) but this particular time our guitarist hadn't shown up so I was playing guitar while our singer played bass. They're not even the finished songs, really. There weren't even vocals or lyrics at this point. They evolved a lot over the time we played them. These are pretty much just working demo scratch versions of them.

So yeah. Pretty ropey playing and not even close to being tight but hey, they're ****ing old and like I said, we were all pretty ****ed up.

It was a blast for me to hear this old stuff again, though.

Enjoy.

Oh yeah, gear. Guitar was an old and ****ty Epiphone into a Marshall MG30. Bass was my bass from a brand called Marathon, which I've never seen or heard from anywhere else. I found it cheap as **** in a pawn shop. It's plugged into my Laney AOR 50 and cranked the **** up. Mic was a Kam (Oooo, coincidence? Nah, not really) mic that I got for £10 in an electronics shop plugged straight into Audacity. No effects were added or anything.

Yeah, I always really liked that song. I think that recording is only like the fourth or fifth time we'd played it, which is why it's basically just that one riff. We ended up adding some parts to it but kept it pretty short and simple. That was a lot of fun to play live.

I actually hated that riff when I wrote it because I thought it sounded like a blatant Kyuss rip-off but the other guys liked it and wanted to play it so :dunno:

Thanks for listening, man. :beerchug:

I thought it was Kyuss-y, but no rip off.

Okay, So Far was Rockin'. Listening to Hosannah now. I like the odd riffs in the beginning. I can picture this tune with some angry lyrics and I'm digging it. Chaparone is actually my least favorite but don't get me wrong--I dig it. I love the in your face bass. I really dig the middle part as well.

Rocking stuff, Kam. I'd love to hear them finished with words and all.
