I play thrash metal :firedevil and want to acheive an extra crunchy destructive tone. Alot of people have told me to use the el diablo but I can't find anywhere to buy it. anybody know where to buy one? Or does somebody want to sell one?

Re: Want an El Diablo

You can get it through the Custom Shop....But what amp are you using? The EL Diablo may have a hot WIND but it aint all that hot in Output as the DC resistance suggest.

I did a lot of swaps and by chance i ran into the crunchiest pickup so far. I used to have a very nasty HB-102B (JB copy, but much nastier) and put in a ceramic magnet.

Re: Want an El Diablo

I played one in one of those Japanese-made Jackson Kevin Bond sigs and it was KILLER. Totally thick, defined, brutal mayhem. Maybe not the hottest pickup in the world but I thought it sounded great toward it's intended purpose.

Re: Want an El Diablo

look for a seymour duncan tony iommi pickup on ebay. its the same thing, and i know at least one person who has taken theirs out of the jackson kevin bond sig, so im sure theres more out there

Re: Want an El Diablo

This is one of my fave pickups for rock/metal and i have then in the bridge of a couple of my axes.

Output: high, but not over the top by any means

Eq: 5/8/7 bass/mid/treb. This pickup has a wide, powerful and musical mid-range, a present treble that is very smooth; no super high freq shrillness at all. There is just enough low end to fill things out nicely and it stays nice and tight.

Thanks for the help. I am using a Peavey amp... an older model but I am going to probably buy a Randall half stack.

Does anybody else think the HB102B is a good substitute?

How similar is the sound between the two because I was going to put one of those one of my guitars earlier before I became obsessed with thrash.

theyre literally the same thing. its been posted on this board by people who work for seymour duncan- theyre identical.

Re: Want an El Diablo

Yeah just make sure you're talking about the SEYMOUR DUNCAN Iommi...the GIBSON Iommi is different.

so Seymour Duncan Iommi = Seymour Duncan El Diablo

Gibson Iommi = Gibson Iommi..?

Re: Want an El Diablo

keep your eye out in the trading post here
i have seen these from time to time there
you may also want to post a WTB ad there for one

Ya dude thanks. I think I got those two confused. I guess I will go with that if I don't find one on the trade threads.

The website that was shown is in a different lang. so I can't read it, but thank you though.

The pickup in the Kevin Bond model is the Iommi, not the El Diablo.
I thought the El Diablo or the Diablo was the Scott Ian model?
