Want More Umph Out Of Your Jazz Model Neck Pickup?

Well I know how to do it. Put a Jazz Bridge Model in the neck slot. Oh My Freakin God man!! It's absolutely divine!! I have like 5-6 Jazz Bridge Models laying around my house. I had an old JB I wanted to put back in one of my Epiphone Les Pauls. So I figured w.t.f., I'll throw one of these Jazz Bridge's in the neck slot. I sat around last night comparing it back and forth to one of my Gibson Les Pauls that has a Jazz Neck where it should be. The Jazz Bridge in the neck slot won hands down. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely looooooove the way a Jazz neck sounds, but sometimes I just wish it would kick just a tad more ass...ya know? Well that Jazz Bridge in the neck slot is it!! It's just super creamy, yet it's still clean as hell. It does lose a tad of it's clarity and glassiness, but it's super sweet. I'll try to make some soundclips sometime this week if possible comparing the two. Give it a try. I promise ya you'll like it!!

Now if I can figure out how to slightly beef up my Jazz Model Bridge in the bridge slot, I'll be set!!

I believe you. Sometime's I think many neck pickups are too tame, or not focused enough. To me, the Jazz bridge is almost like a lost dog of the pickup line, and it takes guys like you to remind us that it's a legitimate and great sounding bridge pickup.
I'm glad you did the experiment, and found it to be a stellar neck pickup. Now you've got me wondering. What if a Custom 5 bridge/ Jazz bridge turns out to be a better combo than C-5/59? It's entirely possible. I'll bet the Jazz bridge in a neck position would have more oomph when split, too.

Congrats man!!!

Once I tried a Neck model which I consider a bit middy the bridge spot. I absolutely loved it!! I just gave me a bit more clearness from the bridge while retaining a warm smooth tone. Sometimes, in some guitars, bridge models work better on the neck and neck model work better on the bridge.

Inge, speaking of that other thread, how do you like the PGs?? I'm really leaning toward the PGn or the Jazzb in the neck of my LP. That Jazz bridge in the neck idea of Jolly's sounds pretty killer.

What is thicker and sustains better jazz or alnico pro II or 59. This for a Les Paul.

Also need a bridge pup: CC, JB? I play gary moore stuff to modern heavy rock.

The PG sounds bright and smoother than I expected from a A-II pickup, but i miss the definition the Jazz neck had.
I'm gonna put an A-5 mag in, or put in on a H-S-H Strat.
Actually it has a 59N and CC combo, as i heard the PG matches well with the CC, so i think it might be worth a try to swap the magnet or the 59 for the PG.
Maybe i'm gonna try a Jazz bridge, that was my first idea and the reason for my thread.

Why not a Jazz bridge in neck ? i have Demon in the neck of an Ibanez Roadstar RS 530 ( very bright and upper mid ) and it's fine : lots of power , clarity , balanced , and split like a strat .
It all depend on the guitar you are putting in it , with bassy guitar avoid it .

I think the Jazz Bridge sounds better than the 59 neck. I bet it would sound good with a C5. I'll give you one when I come out there. You'll be able to see for yourself then.

Jolly turned me onto the Jazz pickups. They work really great also detuned and they don't mush up at all.

I just listened to some of Jolly's clips... the jazz bridge sounds SWEET. It sounds like a beefed up full shred. Crunchy, but full, and still articulate. What tuning do you use Jolly? Think it'd sound a bit on the wimpy side for standard tuning?

I've recorded alot with the Jazz Bridge Model, but I have yet to with one in the neck. The majority of my stuff is in Drop D tuning. I believe there are also a couple in Drop D flat. It doesn't sound wimpy at all in standard tuning.

Speaking of bridge hummers in the neck, I love my Pearly Gates bridge in the neck slot of my Agile DC2500 Les Paul. Raw and powerful, it will probably stay there for years.
